Why a Tabuk to UAE shipment needs its own plan
Tabuk sits in the far north-west of the Kingdom, while Al Batha lies at the far south-eastern edge of the Eastern Province. In practice your truck crosses almost the full width of Saudi Arabia before it even reaches the border, and the road to Dubai runs past 2,200 km. That distance shapes everything: how the furniture is packed, when the truck is loaded, and whether a shared or a dedicated truck makes more sense.
From cities near the border a truck can leave the same day it is loaded. From Tabuk, most shared runs first collect loads and then head for Riyadh, where they may join other UAE-bound cargo. That is why we ask Tabuk customers to book seven to ten days before they travel, so their goods catch the first suitable departure instead of waiting in a warehouse.
We collect across the city, including Al Muruj, Al Rayyan, Al Faisaliyah and Al Sulaimaniyah, and we arrange pickups from the region’s governorates such as Tayma, Duba, Al Wajh, Umluj, Haql and Al Bad’. Many of our customers here are employees starting jobs in the UAE, families joining a relative already living there, or traders sending stock to distributors in Dubai and Sharjah.
The truck route from Tabuk to the UAE via Riyadh and Al Batha
There is no direct road from Tabuk to the UAE border that avoids central Arabia, so the journey runs in three stages. Knowing them explains the transit time and lets you follow your shipment day by day.
Stage one: Tabuk to Riyadh
The truck heads south-east through the northern and central highways towards Riyadh, a leg of about 1,300 km. It is the longest stretch inside the Kingdom and normally takes a day and a half to two days, given legal driving hours and rest stops. On shared loads the truck may call at our Riyadh consolidation point to top up before continuing.
Stage two: Riyadh to the Al Batha border post
From Riyadh, trucks usually take the Haradh road south-east to Al Batha, on the edge of the Empty Quarter. About 24 hours before arrival, the shipment data is filed on the Saudi Fasah platform so the export is ready when the truck pulls in, which cuts the wait at the gate.

Stage three: Ghuwaifat to Abu Dhabi and Dubai
Once Saudi exit formalities are done, the truck enters the UAE at Ghuwaifat, where the customs declaration is lodged and cargo is inspected if needed. Ghuwaifat works around the clock. From there the truck follows the E11 to Abu Dhabi and on to Dubai, and loads for Sharjah, Ajman and the northern emirates are usually delivered the following day.
A word on crossing names
Some websites mention a “Al Sila crossing” or “Salwa” as a route to the UAE. Both are wrong: Al Sila is a UAE town just past Ghuwaifat, and Salwa is the Saudi crossing into Qatar. The only land crossing between Saudi Arabia and the UAE is Al Batha. More in our Al Batha border crossing guide.
How long does shipping from Tabuk to the UAE take?
Plan on roughly 5 to 7 days from loading in Tabuk to delivery in Dubai or Abu Dhabi. The figure is an estimate because the road is long and several things overlap: when a shared load fills up, border traffic, the type of cargo and how many delivery stops the truck has in the UAE. Here is how a typical run breaks down.
Note: road freight from Tabuk to the UAE takes roughly 5 to 7 days depending on the emirate and customs release; air freight takes 24 to 48 hours.
A full dedicated truck does not wait for other cargo or stop at a consolidation point, so it often lands at the short end of that range. If you need certain items the moment you arrive, such as documents, laptops and essential clothing, send them by air and let the furniture follow by road.
Approximate shipping prices from Tabuk to the UAE
No competitor publishes a Tabuk–UAE price list, so Gulf International Shipping prices Tabuk on Jeddah’s published rates, Jeddah being the nearest priced city (about 1,000 km away versus about 1,300 km to Riyadh). Anything Jeddah does not publish falls back to Riyadh rates. Every price is 5–10% below the lowest published competitor figure. In each range the first number is our “from” price and the second is the usual market ceiling.
Note: Tabuk prices cover the longest domestic leg of any major Saudi city; road transit is roughly 5 to 7 days and air 24 to 48 hours.
Other items Tabuk customers often ask about, each with its starting price:
Anything not listed, such as heavy machinery, antiques or a piano, is priced by size and weight: send photos and dimensions on WhatsApp 0568829975 for your quote. To compare every Saudi city on one page, see Shipping prices from Saudi Arabia to the UAE.
Moving household furniture from Tabuk to the UAE
More than 2,200 km means long hours of vibration and road heat, especially between Riyadh and Al Batha, so a single layer of wrap is not enough. At Gulf International Shipping, Tabuk furniture goes through four steps before it is loaded: dismantling, multi-layer wrapping, numbering with a photo inventory, and loading in an order that keeps heavy pieces low and fragile ones on top.

Long-haul dismantling and wrapping
Beds, wardrobes and large tables are taken apart and their screws bagged, numbered and taped to the piece they belong to. Wooden surfaces get bubble wrap and then corrugated board, corners get cardboard guards, and sofas are sealed in stretch film against dust. Glass, mirrors and paintings travel in wooden crates on request, and the delivery crew in the UAE reassembles everything if you book that service.
Appliances and air conditioners
Empty and dry the fridge the day before loading, lock the washer drum with transit bolts if you have them, and ship TVs in original boxes or padded cartons. Window and split AC units should be removed by a technician who seals the refrigerant line properly. A single appliance shipped on its own starts from SAR 460; it costs far less as part of a household load.
The packing list that speeds up customs
Every carton gets a number, and every number has a line on the packing list describing the contents in general terms: children’s clothes, kitchenware, books. UAE customs asks for this list, and it also lets you check that everything arrived. We prepare it with you on loading day in Arabic and English.
Is used furniture duty-free when it enters the UAE?
Under Dubai Customs’ policy on personal effects and household goods, used furniture is usually exempt for two groups: UAE nationals returning home for good, and foreigners moving to live in the UAE for the first time. The goods must be used, in quantities that fit furnishing a home, and registered in the eligible person’s name, with proof of work and residence in the UAE (residence visa, Emirates ID, employment contract or lease) and a packing list of the full contents.
New items are not exempt
If you buy a new fridge or TV in Tabuk to take with you, it is subject to UAE customs duty (usually 5%) plus 5% VAT. Keep the invoice and list it separately from your used belongings.
If you are relocating from Tabuk to Dubai or Abu Dhabi and want to check your own case, the conditions and documents are set out in UAE customs rules for used household goods.
Car shipping from Tabuk to the UAE
Your car can travel on an open multi-car carrier, a private hydraulic flatbed, or an enclosed trailer for EVs and luxury models. On a road this long we recommend the enclosed option for new or high-value cars, since it keeps out dust and flying stones for more than 2,200 km.
Saudi side
- Export plates and a final export certificate from the traffic department.
- An Absher authorisation for whoever handles the car if the owner is not present.
- Clearance of traffic fines and any lien on the vehicle.
- Owner’s ID, iqama or passport, the registration card, and a Fasah authorisation for the carrier.
UAE side
Imported cars pay 5% customs duty on the CIF value plus 5% VAT. Some emirates expect an imported car to be no older than about 10 years, so check the rules of the emirate where it will be registered before shipping. Right-hand-drive cars are accepted only at 25 years or older, and damaged or flood cars are rejected or flagged. Saudi cars are GCC-spec, which makes the UAE inspection simpler and cheaper.
Before you hand over the car
Leave about a quarter tank of fuel, remove all personal items, and record a walk-around video. For an EV, keep the battery between 20% and 50%.
Full details on paperwork, costs and EVs are in Car shipping from Saudi Arabia to the UAE.
Shipping cartons and personal items from Tabuk
Not every shipment is a household. Many Tabuk orders are a few cartons: clothes and belongings for a student or employee, gifts for family in the UAE, or essentials someone needs after relocating. These travel on the shared truck from SAR 138 per parcel or carton, SAR 138 per suitcase, or SAR 14 per kg, collected at your door in Tabuk and delivered to the recipient’s door in the UAE.
Write the recipient’s name, UAE mobile number and emirate on every carton, and fill each box so nothing collapses under the load on a long run. Box sizes and volumetric weight are explained in Shipping cartons and parcels to the UAE.
Commercial freight from Tabuk: part load or full truck
Traders, factories and farms in the Tabuk region have two choices. With less-than-truckload (LTL) your pallets share a truck and you are billed for their footprint alone, from SAR 740 per pallet on a shared load. With full truckload (FTL) the truck is yours alone: a dedicated pallet truck from SAR 3,000, or a 15 m trailer from SAR 6,450. FTL is faster because it never waits for other cargo; LTL is cheaper for small volumes.
Commercial cargo needs a commercial invoice, packing list, commercial registration and a GCC certificate of origin, so it is normally treated as national produce within the GCC customs union. Food and agricultural products need health or phytosanitary certificates depending on the product. See Goods shipping from Saudi Arabia to the UAE.
Air freight from Tabuk to the UAE
For urgent items, documents and small electronics, air is fastest: 24 to 48 hours to Dubai, Abu Dhabi or Sharjah, from SAR 46 per kg, with express electronics shipments from SAR 1,500. Depending on available flights, Tabuk air cargo may be routed through one of the Kingdom’s major airports; we confirm the routing and timing when you book.
Air freight is charged on actual or volumetric weight, whichever is higher, so bulky light items like pillows and duvets are poor candidates. The rule of thumb for Tabuk customers: papers, devices and personal medicines by air; furniture and heavy cartons by road. More in Air freight from Saudi Arabia to Dubai.

Prohibited and restricted items for the UAE
These are the common prohibited items we will not carry from Tabuk. The official list is longer, and we check anything unclear before loading:
- Weapons, ammunition, explosives and fireworks.
- Narcotics, banned substances and unlicensed medicines.
- Flammables such as gas cylinders, fuel and paint, and concentrated perfumes on air shipments.
- Loose lithium batteries, cash and currency, and counterfeit goods.

Some items are restricted and need a permit in advance: drones, wireless and radio equipment, prescription medicines in large quantities, and seeds, plants, dates and farm produce that require an agricultural certificate.

Delivery across the UAE from Tabuk
Tabuk trucks reach Abu Dhabi first, as it is the first major city after Ghuwaifat, then Dubai, then Sharjah, Ajman and the northern emirates. Approximate transit times:

Towers and gated communities in Dubai and Abu Dhabi often require a move-in permit and a lift booking. Ask building management two days before the truck arrives and send us the permitted time window so we can schedule delivery around it.
How is the cost of shipping from Tabuk calculated?
- Volume and weight: road freight is priced by cubic metres or by number of cartons and pieces; air by actual or volumetric weight.
- Truck type: shared is cheaper because the cost is split; dedicated is faster and costs more.
- Emirate: Sharjah and the north are further than Abu Dhabi and Dubai, adding a day and sometimes cost.
- Extras: professional packing, wooden crates, reassembly and storage before shipping.
- Clearance and insurance: clearance from SAR 460; insurance is optional and typically 1–2% of declared value in the market.
Worked example: a family in Tabuk ships a two-bedroom apartment on a shared truck (from SAR 2,100), a sedan on a multi-car carrier (from SAR 1,100) and customs clearance (from SAR 460). The total starts at about SAR 3,660; the final figure depends on the item count, the emirate and whether packing is required.
The cheapest way to ship from Tabuk to the UAE
- Choose a shared truck if you are not in a hurry; you wait a few extra days but pay only for your space.
- Declutter before you ship: moving an old piece 2,200 km can cost more than replacing it in the UAE.
- Consolidate small items into full cartons rather than sending loose pieces.
- Never send bulky light furniture by air; volumetric weight will multiply the price.
- Book early ahead of relocation peaks and the start of the school year, when runs fill up.
Common mistakes when shipping from Tabuk to the UAE
- Booking two days before travel, when a Tabuk run needs more lead time to consolidate.
- Mixing new appliances with used goods without invoices, which holds the shipment at customs.
- Forgetting export plates for the car, or leaving traffic fines unpaid.
- Leaving liquids, perfumes or gas cylinders inside cartons.
- Not telling the tower or community management in the UAE when delivery is due.
- Relying on a vague description instead of a numbered packing list.
