Gulf International Shipping moves commercial goods, cars, furniture and parcels from Jeddah to the UAE by road through the Al Batha crossing and on into Al Ghuwaifat, with door-to-door delivery to Dubai and Abu Dhabi in about 4 to 6 days, or by air from Jeddah airport in 24 to 48 hours. Our prices start from SAR 138 per carton, SAR 2,100 for a room or apartment of furniture on a shared truck, SAR 2,050 for a car on a hydraulic flatbed and SAR 6,450 for a full trailer.
The road from Jeddah to Dubai runs to roughly 1,950 km, one of the longest overland freight routes in the Gulf. So every Jeddah consignment is planned in clear stages: loading in Jeddah, the international highway east to Riyadh, the Batha road to the border, then distribution inside the Emirates. What does Gulf International Shipping carry from Jeddah to the UAE?
Jeddah is a trading city first. Most of what leaves it for the Emirates is stock for distributors, factory output and e-commerce orders, alongside private cars and the belongings of families relocating. That is why our Jeddah service is organised by cargo type: a truck carrying pallets of food has little in common with a carrier holding a luxury car, or a box truck loaded with a wrapped bedroom set.
Commercial goods
Pallets, wholesale cartons, packaging, spare parts and factory products, part load or full load.
Cars
Saloons, SUVs, luxury and electric cars on a shared carrier, a private flatbed or an enclosed trailer.
Household furniture
Rooms and whole apartments with dismantling, packing and reassembly; see our dedicated Jeddah moving guide.
Cartons and parcels
Personal belongings, gifts and online-shop orders by the carton or by the kilo.
Urgent air shipments
Documents, samples, electronics and spare parts that must arrive within two days.
Sea containers
Large commercial volumes that are not time-critical, Jeddah Islamic Port to Jebel Ali.
If you are moving a whole household, read our dedicated guide to furniture moving from Jeddah to the UAE, which covers packing, districts and reassembly. This page concentrates on goods, vehicles and the three ways to ship: road, air and sea.
How much does shipping from Jeddah to the UAE cost?
At Gulf International Shipping a Jeddah price depends on the shipment’s volume in cubic metres or its weight, the type of goods, the mode of transport and the emirate of delivery. The table below shows the starting point for each common shipment; the final figure follows once we have the details.
Approximate shipping prices from Jeddah to the UAE
Note: road freight from Jeddah to the UAE usually takes 4 to 6 days depending on the emirate and customs clearance; air freight takes 24 to 48 hours.
Other items customers often ask about
A saloon on a shared carrier costs less than a private flatbed because the carrier takes several cars in one trip and waits until it is full. A flatbed leaves with your car alone, so it departs sooner and costs more. UAE customs duty is not included in these prices, as it is charged on the value of the goods themselves and varies from case to case.

How long does shipping from Jeddah to the UAE take?
Transit from Jeddah is longer than from Riyadh or Dammam for a simple geographic reason: the truck crosses the entire width of the Kingdom, from the Red Sea coast to the far east, before it reaches the border. We therefore quote Jeddah customers roughly 4 to 6 days door to door by road, adding a day for northern emirates such as Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah.
These times run from loading, not from booking. What usually stretches a journey is not the road but a missing document at the border, or a mismatch between the invoice and what is actually in the truck. That is why we check the paperwork in Jeddah before the truck moves, and file the pre-clearance data roughly 24 hours before it reaches Al Batha.
The route from Jeddah to Dubai and Abu Dhabi, stage by stage
There is no direct overland road from Jeddah to the UAE that avoids the centre of the Kingdom. Trucks normally take the international highway to Riyadh and then head south-east towards Haradh and Al Batha. Gulf International Shipping consolidates smaller Jeddah shipments with other UAE-bound cargo until the truck is full, which lowers each customer’s share of the cost.
- 1Collection in Jeddah
We collect from the warehouse, factory or home, match the goods against the invoice and packing list, and photograph their condition before loading. - 2Loading and securing
Pallets are strapped down, heavy goods are kept apart from fragile ones, and cars are secured by their wheels on the carrier. - 3Crossing the Kingdom eastwards
The Jeddah–Riyadh highway, then the Haradh road towards Al Batha, the usual truck route. - 4Saudi exit at Al Batha
Al Batha, in Al-Udaid governorate in the Eastern Province, is the only land crossing between Saudi Arabia and the UAE; the data is filed in advance on the Fasah platform. - 5UAE entry at Al Ghuwaifat
The crossing operates around the clock, and the UAE customs formalities are completed there against the declaration filed. - 6Distribution inside the UAE
The truck passes through Al Dhafra and Abu Dhabi, then continues to Dubai, Sharjah and the northern emirates according to the address.
A point many people get wrong
The Salwa crossing links Saudi Arabia with Qatar, not the UAE, and Al Sila’ is an Emirati town just past Ghuwaifat, not a border post. Every road shipment from Jeddah to the Emirates crosses Al Batha and then Al Ghuwaifat.
Shipping commercial goods from Jeddah to the UAE

Most of our trade customers in Jeddah operate from the Industrial City, the warehouses in the south of the city and along the old Makkah road, and they ship to distributors in Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi. Their consignments fall into two kinds:
- Part load (LTL): you book space on a truck shared with other customers and pay per pallet or per cubic metre; a pallet starts from SAR 740.
- Full load (FTL): a truck or 15 m trailer for you alone, leaving as soon as it is loaded; a trailer starts from SAR 6,450.
Part loads suit a trader sending small quantities regularly; full loads suit anyone whose stock fills a truck or who does not want sensitive goods mixed with other cargo. Either way, Saudi-made goods need a GCC certificate of origin to be treated, as a rule, like national products inside the GCC customs union. Goods imported from outside the Gulf and re-exported are treated differently, and that has to be clarified before shipping.
Goods that need special arrangements
- Food and dates: packed to protect them from heat, and some lines need health or agricultural certificates.
- Cosmetics and perfumes: some are flammable, so they travel by road with a clear content declaration.
- Electronics: kept in original cartons, with serial numbers listed on the invoice.
- Spare parts and equipment: fixed to wooden pallets, with heavy items loaded by forklift.
For more on full and part loads and certificates of origin, see goods shipping from Saudi Arabia to the UAE and our land freight service.
Car shipping from Jeddah to the UAE
Driving a car from Jeddah to the Emirates means close to 2,000 km. We advise against doing it yourself if the car is new, high-end or electric; a carrier saves the tyres, the fuel and the fatigue. Gulf International Shipping offers three options:
Saudi export paperwork for the car
- Export plates and the final export certificate from the traffic department.
- An Absher authorisation for the shipping company where required.
- Clearance of traffic fines and confirmation that the car is free of any lien.
- The vehicle registration (istimara) and the owner’s ID or passport.
- A Fasah authorisation for the customs broker.
Rules for bringing the car into the UAE
Cars imported into the UAE normally attract 5% customs duty and 5% VAT, though the treatment depends on the car’s origin and condition, so we set out the expected cost before shipping. Some emirates require an imported car to be no more than about 10 years old, and the rules of the destination emirate should be checked before you ship. A right-hand-drive car is admitted only once it is at least 25 years old, and cars classed as damaged or flood-hit are rejected or flagged. The advantage of a car coming from Saudi Arabia is that it is usually GCC-spec, which makes testing and registration in the UAE simpler.
Before handing over the car in Jeddah
Leave about a quarter of a tank of fuel, remove every personal item from the cabin and photograph the car from all sides. For an electric car, charge the battery to between 20% and 50% only.

Air freight from Jeddah to the UAE

When a shipment cannot spend four days on the road, we send it from King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah to Dubai, Abu Dhabi or Sharjah, arriving within 24 to 48 hours of being handed to the cargo terminal. Our air freight starts from SAR 46 per kg, charged on the actual or volumetric weight, whichever is greater, and an express electronics shipment by air starts from SAR 1,500.
Air is right for trade samples, documents, spare parts that are holding up a production line and urgent online orders. It is wrong for furniture or large appliances, where volumetric weight multiplies the cost. Loose lithium batteries, perfumes and flammable items are restricted on aircraft, so we check the contents before booking. Details are in air freight from Saudi Arabia to the UAE.
Is sea freight from Jeddah to the UAE worth considering?
Shipping from Jeddah Islamic Port to Jebel Ali is possible, but the vessel sails right round the Arabian Peninsula, through Bab el-Mandeb, the Arabian Sea and the Strait of Hormuz. A container therefore takes 7 to 12 days port to port, before clearance and final delivery are added. A 20 ft container starts from SAR 2,600 and a 40 ft from SAR 3,330.
We suggest sea freight to traders moving large, heavy volumes with no deadline, or stock that will be redistributed from the Jebel Ali free zone. For a family or a trader waiting on their goods, the road from Jeddah is usually quicker and simpler on paperwork.
Jeddah districts we collect from
We collect across the city, north to south: Obhur North and South, Al Shati, Al Naeem, Al Zahra, Al Rawdah, Al Salamah, Al Safa, Al Marwah, Al Faisaliyah, Al Bawadi, Al Samer, Al Hamdaniyah, Al Rabwah, Al Aziziyah, Al Rehab, Al Baghdadiyah, Al Sharafiyah, the Industrial City, Al Khumrah and Al Sulaimaniyah. Rabigh, Khulais and Thuwal can be served on request, with the extra distance added to the price.
Warehouses and factories in the Industrial City and Al Khumrah usually need forklift loading from a dock, while homes and shops inside the residential districts need a smaller truck to bring the goods to the consolidation point. We settle this at booking so that loading day runs to time.
Delivery across the Emirates from Jeddah

Times are approximate, from loading in Jeddah to delivery, and depend on when a shared truck fills and on clearance time at the border.
Free zones such as Jebel Ali (JAFZA) have their own truck entry procedures, so we need the receiving company’s name and registration there before dispatch. Dubai restricts heavy trucks on some roads and at certain hours, so goods may be transferred to a smaller truck for delivery within residential areas.
Documents required for shipping from Jeddah to the UAE
For used furniture, household effects are normally exempt from duty for someone moving to live in the UAE for the first time, or a UAE national returning for good, provided residence or employment is proven and a full packing list is supplied; new appliances are dutiable. Details are in UAE customs rules for used household goods and our customs clearance service.
What is prohibited when shipping from Jeddah to the UAE?
The list below gathers the common prohibited and restricted items; we confirm each case before loading:
Prohibited outright
Explosives, weapons and ammunition, narcotics, counterfeit currency, fake branded goods and material offensive to public morals.
Needs a permit
Drones, wireless communication equipment, prescription medicines in large quantities, seeds and grains.
Restricted on aircraft
Loose lithium batteries, perfumes, gas and chemicals without a safety data sheet.
On shared trucks we also refuse anything that could damage other customers’ goods, such as poorly sealed liquids or strong-smelling materials.
How is the cost of shipping from Jeddah to the UAE calculated?
Distance alone does not set the final price. These are the factors we walk you through when quoting:
- Volume or weight: shared road freight is usually charged per cubic metre or per pallet; air on actual or volumetric weight.
- Type of goods: fragile or heat-sensitive cargo needs special packing and handling.
- Shared or dedicated: a dedicated truck costs more but leaves at once.
- Emirate: Ras Al Khaimah or Fujairah lies further than Abu Dhabi.
- Extras: packing, storage, clearance and insurance.
Worked example
A Jeddah trader sends 4 pallets on a shared truck to Dubai. A pallet starts from SAR 740, so transport starts from about SAR 2,960, plus clearance from SAR 460 if requested. If the stock filled a whole trailer, the cost would start from SAR 6,450 regardless of the number of pallets.
The cheapest way to ship from Jeddah to the UAE
- Choose shared road freight if a few extra days are acceptable.
- Combine small shipments into one monthly consignment instead of several separate ones.
- Use standard-size pallets; odd shapes waste space.
- Have complete paperwork before booking; a delay at the border costs more than any discount saves.
- For very large volumes with no deadline, compare a sea container with a trailer.
Common mistakes when shipping from Jeddah to the UAE
- Writing a vague description such as “assorted goods” on the invoice, which slows clearance on both sides.
- Shipping a car with unpaid fines or an active lien.
- Sending goods to a free zone without the receiving company’s details.
- Putting batteries or perfumes in an air shipment without declaring them.
- Taking the cheapest offer without checking that clearance and delivery inside the UAE are included.
