Gulf International Shipping moves household furniture from Jeddah to the UAE door to door: we dismantle and pack your apartment or villa in Jeddah, carry it by road through the Al Batha and Al Ghuwaifat crossings, and reassemble it in your new home in Dubai, Abu Dhabi or Sharjah in about 4 to 6 days. Moving a room or small apartment on a shared truck starts from SAR 2,100, a full home from SAR 7,400, a villa from SAR 8,300, and professional packing for a home from SAR 920.
Relocating from Jeddah to the Emirates means your furniture travels around 1,950 km across central Saudi Arabia and its eastern desert inside a sealed truck box, which is a very different job from a move across town. So we start with a survey and a volume estimate, then a packing plan built for a long, hot journey. Send photos or a short video of your rooms on WhatsApp 0568829975 and we will send you a quote.

How much does furniture moving from Jeddah to the UAE cost?
The first things Gulf International Shipping asks about are the number of rooms and the size of the large pieces, then the type of building in Jeddah and the emirate you are moving to. The price depends on the volume of furniture in cubic metres, on whether it travels on a truck shared with other families or a private one, and on how much dismantling, packing and reassembly is involved.
Approximate prices for furniture moving from Jeddah to the UAE
Note: moving furniture by road from Jeddah to the UAE usually takes 4 to 6 days depending on the emirate and customs clearance; urgent bags by air take 24 to 48 hours.
Prices for individual items
A room or small apartment from Jeddah starts at SAR 2,100 because it carries its share of a long haul to the Emirates; a full home or villa rises with the volume and the hours of work. If your villa’s contents fill a trailer, booking that trailer for yourself can work out cheaper than shared space, and we compare both options when we quote.

How do we pack furniture for the long trip from Jeddah to the UAE?

Packing that is fine for a move between Jeddah districts is not enough for a trip of nearly two thousand kilometres. The truck crosses hot desert roads for most of the year, the furniture stays in a closed box for several days, and it faces constant vibration plus loading and unloading at consolidation points. Gulf International Shipping therefore uses layers matched to each type of item:
The fridge and the washing machine need particular care. Unplug the fridge two days ahead so the ice melts and the inside dries; drain the washer completely and fit its transit bolts if you still have them. Any moisture left inside turns into a smell or rust after days in a sealed box. Please do not pack candles, perfumes or flammable cleaners among your things: they are a hazard in the heat and are not accepted on shared trucks.
Pack a first-days bag
Keep a small bag with you holding what you need for the first three days in the UAE: official papers, medicines, chargers, clothes and basic tools. The truck may arrive a few days after you do.
Your type of home in Jeddah shapes loading day
Homes differ not only in how much furniture they hold but in how it gets out. That is why we ask about the building before deciding on crew size and equipment:
Corniche and Al Shati towers
We book the service lift with building management, protect corridors and floors, and bring large pieces down dismantled.
Villas in Obhur, Al Muhammadiyah and Al Naeem
Bigger spaces and heavy pieces such as marble tables, sometimes needing a large truck or trailer.
Older buildings in historic districts
Al Baghdadiyah, Al Hindawiyah and Al Sharafiyah have narrow streets and stairs without lifts, so a small truck shuttles the furniture to the loading point.
Apartments in newer districts
In Al Salamah, Al Rawdah, Al Safa, Al Marwah and Al Bawadi, loading usually happens straight from the building entrance.
If an apartment is on a high floor without a suitable lift, we use an external hoist to lower large pieces from the balcony. We also cover Al Hamdaniyah, Al Samer, Al Rehab, Al Faisaliyah, Al Zahra, Al Rabwah and the newer plans in north Jeddah.
What should you take to the UAE and what should you leave in Jeddah?
Every extra cubic metre adds cost, so we help families make a practical call before booking:
The UAE customs exemption for used furniture
The most important thing for a family leaving Jeddah: Dubai Customs rules exempt used furniture and belongings, as a rule, for two groups: UAE nationals living abroad on their final return, and foreigners coming to live in the UAE for the first time. The core conditions are:
- Condition: the items are used, not new.
- Quantity: appropriate for furnishing a home, not commercial volumes.
- Name: the shipment is in the name of the eligible person.
- Proof: a residence visa or Emirates ID, plus an employment or tenancy contract.
- List: a packing list of the entire contents.
Do not rely on promises of full exemption for everyone
Some adverts claim furniture is 100% exempt for everyone, or only for GCC citizens; neither is accurate. The exemption depends on your circumstances and proof of residence, and new appliances and items are dutiable. We review your situation before shipping.
That is why we ask you to build the packing list while we pack, not afterwards: each carton is numbered and its contents written down, so the list is ready for customs and for you when you unpack. Full details are in UAE customs rules for used household goods.
Documents needed to move furniture from Jeddah to the UAE
- A copy of the owner’s national ID, iqama or passport.
- A numbered packing list describing each carton and each piece.
- Proof of UAE residence: residence visa or Emirates ID, with an employment or tenancy contract.
- Your home address in the UAE and a UAE phone number for delivery.
- A Fasah authorisation for the customs broker.
- Invoices for any new appliances, since they are dutiable.
If your UAE residence has not been issued yet, the furniture can be stored temporarily in Jeddah until your papers are complete, rather than shipped now with duty you could have avoided. See also our international furniture moving service.
Your furniture’s journey from Jeddah to the UAE, day by day

The plan is approximate and moves with the date a shared truck fills: a dedicated truck sets off the moment your last carton is aboard, whereas shared space depends on other households filling the rest of the box. Al Batha is the only land crossing between Saudi Arabia and the UAE, and the Ghuwaifat side operates 24 hours a day.
Delivery and reassembly in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and the other emirates

On arrival we contact you to agree a delivery time. Many towers in Dubai and Abu Dhabi require the service lift to be booked in advance or a move-in permit, so ask your building management about this at least two days before the truck arrives. Our crew then reassembles beds and wardrobes and places cartons in the rooms according to the numbers written on them.
Shipping the family car with the furniture
Most families leaving Jeddah need their car in the UAE, and we can move it in the same window: on an open shared carrier from SAR 1,100 for a saloon and SAR 1,390 for an SUV, on a private flatbed from SAR 2,050, or in an enclosed trailer from SAR 3,600 for luxury and electric cars. The car needs export plates, an export certificate and clearance of traffic fines; in the UAE, 5% customs duty and 5% VAT normally apply, and some emirates require the car to be no more than about 10 years old. Details are in car shipping from Saudi Arabia to the UAE.
Air freight for bags and urgent belongings from Jeddah
The furniture goes by road, but some things cannot wait: work clothes, children’s school records, a laptop, personal medication. We fly these from King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah to Dubai, Abu Dhabi or Sharjah in 24 to 48 hours, from SAR 46 per kg on actual or volumetric weight, whichever is greater. Note that loose batteries and perfumes are restricted on aircraft. Read air freight from Saudi Arabia to the UAE.
Storage in Jeddah before the move
Sometimes your Jeddah lease ends before your UAE home is ready, or your Emirati residence is delayed. In that case we can collect, pack and store the furniture temporarily in Jeddah, then ship it when you are ready. Storing before shipping takes the pressure off the last few days and lets you hand back the apartment on time. Storage is priced by duration and volume, so ask for a quote on WhatsApp.
What cannot travel with your furniture to the UAE
- Gas cylinders, fuel, flammable materials and pesticides.
- Weapons, ammunition and fireworks.
- Prescription medicines in large quantities without a prescription, and any banned substances.
- Perishable food, plants and seeds without an agricultural permit.
- Cash, jewellery and original documents, which should stay with you.
- Drones and wireless communication equipment, unless permitted.
How to lower the cost of moving furniture from Jeddah to the UAE
- Sell or donate cheap, heavy pieces before the survey, since the quote is built on volume.
- Choose a shared truck if your arrival date can flex by a day or two.
- Pack small cartons yourself and leave large and fragile items to the crew.
- Claim the customs exemption with complete paperwork; it is the biggest saving in the move.
- Do not ship new appliances with their invoices if buying them in the UAE costs about the same.
Mistakes that keep repeating on Jeddah–UAE moves
- Leaving water in the washer or fridge, which then arrives with a stubborn smell.
- Shipping furniture before the UAE residence is issued, making the exemption hard to prove.
- No packing list, or one so general it does not describe the contents.
- Forgetting to book the service lift in the new tower, leaving the truck waiting for hours.
- Putting official papers and jewellery in the truck cartons.
