Approximate shipping prices from Saudi Arabia to the UAE
Note: road shipments need anything from 2–4 working days (Dammam) up to 4–6 days (Jeddah and the west), with Riyadh in between at 3–5; air is a 24–48 hour service.
Read each row as a range: the lower number is what Gulf International Shipping charges from Riyadh to start with, and the upper one is typical for larger loads or extra services. These prices cover road transport from your city to the address in the UAE. They don’t include UAE customs duty where it applies.
How did we set these prices?
We didn’t guess. We went through the rates that carriers serving the UAE publish in Riyadh, Dammam and Jeddah, picked the lowest advertised figure for every item in every city, and priced ours 5–10% under it. That’s why the same item can cost a different amount from different cities: the market prices themselves differ.
Makkah, Taif, Madinah and Tabuk have no published prices for shipping to the UAE. For those we use Jeddah’s prices, as the nearest city with published rates, and fall back to Riyadh for anything Jeddah doesn’t publish. That way you always know where a number comes from.
Shipping prices to the UAE by departure city
All prices are “from”. The text in brackets shows what the item covers in that city.
Notice that a bedroom costs less from Dammam than from Riyadh, and a full household is much cheaper. Dammam is the major city closest to Al Batha, about 900 km from Dubai, and market rates there are lower on this route. Car shipping from Dammam, on the other hand, is slightly higher, because the published car-carrier rates there are higher. Carton and parcel prices to the UAE by weight
Small parcels are what people ask about most, since many residents send things to family in Dubai or Abu Dhabi. Prices by weight and size:
The difference between SAR 14 and SAR 7.5 per kg is that the first covers personal items shipped door to door with packing, and the second covers general goods consolidated in commercial quantities. For everything about cartons and how to pack them, read Carton and parcel shipping to the UAE.
Furniture moving prices to the UAE: room, apartment or villa
A bedroom (SAR 1,100) costs less than a room or studio (SAR 1,390) because the first is just bedroom furniture on a shared truck, while the second covers a whole room’s belongings, which may include a small kitchen. If you’re moving to live in the UAE, used furniture is normally duty-free under conditions explained in UAE customs rules for used household goods.
Car shipping prices from Saudi Arabia to the UAE
Leaving Riyadh, a sedan costs SAR 1,100 and up on a shared carrier, an SUV SAR 1,390 and up, and a luxury car SAR 2,300 and up in enclosed transport. From Dammam, a private flatbed starts from SAR 2,050. From Jeddah, an open flatbed starts from SAR 2,050 and an enclosed trailer for electric and luxury cars from SAR 3,600. In the UAE, customs normally adds 5% duty and 5% VAT on the car’s value. Full details and rules are in Car shipping from Saudi Arabia to the UAE.
Commercial shipping prices: pallet, cubic metre or trailer
Container prices are port to port only. Trucking to and from the ports and port charges are extra. For regular shippers, Saudi-made goods usually clear as GCC products when a GCC certificate of origin travels with them. More in Goods shipping from Saudi Arabia to the UAE.
Air freight prices from Saudi Arabia to the UAE
Air freight at Gulf International Shipping starts from SAR 46 per kg. Cargo flies out of Riyadh, Jeddah or Dammam and lands at Dubai, Abu Dhabi or Sharjah, reaching the receiver in 24 to 48 hours. From Dammam, documents up to 1 kg start from SAR 138 and a parcel up to 5 kg from SAR 185. From Jeddah, an express electronics shipment by air starts from SAR 1,500. Airlines bill whichever is greater, the scale weight or the dimensional weight, which is why a bulky but light box can cost more than its kilos suggest. Road, air or sea: which is cheapest to the UAE?

Road is the cheapest option for most shipments, because the UAE is linked to the Kingdom by a direct road through Al Batha. Air costs about six times more per kilo but saves days. Sea is inexpensive for a full container, but slower, and needs trucking to and from the port, so it rarely suits families.
Shared or full truck: when does a full load work out cheaper?

On a shared truck you pay only for the space you take, and you wait until the truck fills with other loads. With a full truck you pay for the whole trailer (from SAR 6,450) and it leaves straight away. A simple rule: if your shipment fills more than half a trailer, a full load is usually cheaper and faster. A villa move (from SAR 8,300 on a shared basis), for example, may cost less on a dedicated trailer if it’s bulky, while the reverse is true for a small apartment.
What is and isn’t included in the price?
UAE customs charges and your total cost
- Used furniture: generally no duty for new residents and returning Emiratis who show a packing list and residence proof.
- New items and appliances: not covered by the exemption and subject to duty.
- Cars: normally 5% customs duty + 5% VAT on the value.
- Commercial goods made in Saudi Arabia: a GCC certificate of origin usually lets them enter without import duty.
These charges are paid to UAE customs and aren’t part of the shipping price, but you should budget for them. To learn where they’re paid and how trucks cross, read our Al Batha border crossing guide for UAE shipments.
Work out your shipping cost: three examples
Example 1: a student moving from Riyadh to Dubai with 6 cartons and 2 suitcases: 6 × 92 = SAR 552 + 2 × 138 = SAR 276, about SAR 828 in total.
Example 2: a family moving from Dammam to Abu Dhabi with a full household and a sedan: 4,600 + 1,390 = about SAR 5,990, and the used furniture is normally duty-free with proof of residence.
Example 3: a trader in Jeddah sending a full load of pallets to Sharjah plus an urgent 10 kg parcel by air: 3,000 + 10 × 46 = about SAR 3,460.
Five ways to cut your UAE shipping bill
- Use shared road freight for anything that doesn’t fill half a truck.
- Cut the volume: on shared loads, volume counts before weight.
- Ship from the city closest to Al Batha if your things are spread across cities.
- Book ahead of peak periods and avoid the first two weeks of the holidays.
- Don’t ship new appliances with used furniture, or you’ll pay duty on them.
