For anyone needing a shipping company from Taif to Turkey, Gulf International Shipping wraps your furniture and belongings at home in Taif, Al-Hada or Al-Shafa, drives them about 170 km down the escarpment to Jeddah Islamic Port, where the container is loaded onto a ship that makes Mersin in around five days or heads for the Marmara ports serving Bursa and Istanbul, with customs clearance and delivery to your door at the far end. Taif timelines mirror Jeddah’s: two to three weeks (14–20 days) to Mersin and Adana, 18 to 28 days to Bursa, Yalova and Istanbul, and 3–5 working days for air cargo flown direct from Taif to Istanbul as scheduled, or out of Jeddah. Our Taif starting rates are SAR 138 for parcels weighing 5 kg or less, SAR 920 for a bedroom, SAR 2,665 for a living room, SAR 4,140 for a twenty-foot box and SAR 14 for each air kilo.
Plenty of Taif households already know Turkey: summers in Bursa, Yalova or Uzungöl, a flat rented or bought there, a son or daughter at an Istanbul university. So the bulk of what we carry from Taif to Turkey is not trade cargo but the contents of a second home, an Arabic majlis the Turkish flat lacks, or a student’s things. Here we answer the questions Taif customers really ask: how cargo gets from the mountains to the sea, whether residents of Turkey pay duty on furniture, what is worth shipping versus buying locally, and what each piece costs.
In short
- Down to the sea: about 170 km in a closed truck from Taif to the Jeddah quay, arriving on loading day
- At sea: a weekly vessel reaching Mersin in about five days; Gemlik and Ambarlı on other lines

- By plane: straight from Taif Airport to Istanbul as scheduled, about 4 h 20 min, or via Jeddah; delivered in 3–5 working days
- Starting from: SAR 138 per parcel (5 kg or less), SAR 920 per bedroom, SAR 2,665 per living room, SAR 4,140 per 20 ft box, SAR 14 per air kilo
- If you live in Turkey: used furniture clears with a residence permit, tax number and a notarised one-year lease or tapu; new goods pay duty and 20% VAT
- Your car: sealed container if Turkish customs accepts it; permanent import is reserved for returning Turks

From the Taif highlands to the Jeddah quay: the first leg
Taif is an inland mountain city, so any sea shipment to Turkey begins with a short drive to Jeddah Islamic Port of roughly 170 km. Depending on the size of the truck, the driver takes either the Al-Hada road or the Al-Sail road, and the cargo is normally inside the port yard the same day. Because that leg is so short, Taif’s prices and transit times track Jeddah’s closely, unlike Riyadh or Tabuk, whose loads travel the best part of a thousand kilometres before reaching the coast.
Our teams cover all of Taif, from Al-Hawiyah, Al-Shuhada and Shihar to Al-Qamariyah, Al-Faisaliyah and Nakhb, the summer retreats of Al-Hada and Al-Shafa, and, by appointment, nearby governorates such as Maysan, Turabah and Al-Khurmah. A private container can be filled outside your Taif house, sealed on the spot and driven to the port unopened; for shared shipping, our closed truck carries your goods to the Jeddah warehouse to join other Turkey-bound cargo.
Save a whole day
When the sailing is close, ask for a morning collection. A truck leaving Taif before midday reaches Jeddah while the port is still accepting boxes, so your load makes the cut-off without a night in storage.
How long does shipping from Taif to Turkey take?
After it reaches Jeddah, a Taif load runs through the usual sequence: three to five days for Fasah export formalities and the booking cut-off, then the sea passage, then four or five working days with Turkish customs, then the road to your city. Since the descent from Taif takes a day at most, the figures sit close to Jeddah’s and Makkah’s:
Consider these as estimates; the vessel’s departure day and the pace of clearance in Turkey move them, and the shared column is longer only because that box waits to fill. To have furniture in your Bursa home before summer begins, allow at least five weeks from today for shared shipping, or four with a container of your own.
Approximate shipping prices from Taif to Turkey
Taif rates sit under the cheapest published prices for this route, and we cross-checked them so nothing from Taif is dearer than the same item from a city further from Jeddah port. These are “from” figures; volume, weight and the Turkish delivery city decide the final number:
Note: from Taif, Mersin and Adana are 14–20 days away by sea and Bursa or Istanbul 18–28 days; consolidated cargo runs five to seven days behind, while air needs only 3–5 working days to Istanbul.
Price list for items from Taif
These numbers leave out whatever Turkey may collect on new goods; before shipping we show you what will be exempt and what will be assessed. Other cities are listed in the table on shipping prices from Saudi Arabia to Turkey.
Furnishing your home in Turkey: what to ship from Taif and what to buy there
Before costing anything, ask whether each piece deserves the trip. Turkish customs exempts used belongings and nothing else; whatever arrives in a factory box is treated as new and charged duty plus 20% VAT. That is why we advise against buying new appliances in Taif for a Turkish flat: once freight and tax are added, they can end up dearer than buying them in a Turkish store.
The things that usually earn their freight are those hard to find in Turkey or precious to you: an Arabic majlis with floor seating and bolsters, carpets you are attached to, coffee and serving sets, well-made wooden furniture, the family’s clothes and the children’s books. Before shipping a big appliance, read its rating plate: Turkish mains power is 230 V at 50 Hz, while the Kingdom runs at 60 Hz, and although most modern units handle both, certain motor-driven devices and clocks may misbehave. Gulf International Shipping goes through your photos with you before booking, so you ship what is worth it and keep the rest of the money.
Holiday home or residence?
Where the Turkish flat is a holiday home with no formal residence behind it, the household-goods exemption is normally unavailable and the shipment is assessed on value. Explain your situation before shipping and we will cost it in full with you, expected taxes included.
Turkish customs rules for residents’ and returnees’ furniture
If you are an Arab or other foreign resident of Turkey
Most Taif customers with a home in Turkey are residents there rather than citizens. They need, first, a valid residence card or work permit; second, a Turkish tax number obtained from the tax office; and third, proof the property is their home: either a rental contract certified by a Turkish notary (noter) for twelve months or more, or the tapu in their own name. Lacking that last document, a temporary entry may be granted against money lodged with a bank or a bank-issued bond, or the taxes due are simply paid. Customs also sets a window for the furniture to arrive around your entry date, from two months before to six months after, so do not send the container too early.
If you are a Turkish citizen working in Taif and moving home
A Turkish national with two unbroken years abroad, or five years in total over the past decade, may take the used contents of their home back to Turkey free of duty on resettling. The goods must belong to them and be in use, and they must land inside a window that opens two months before the owner’s arrival and closes six months after. The relocation certificate comes from the Turkish Consulate General in Jeddah, the closest office to Taif, or the embassy in Riyadh; the owner attends clearance in person and may send a second lot within six months as long as it does not repeat items from the first. Television sets still carry a banderole fee.
Because the fine print can change from file to file, we confirm the conditions with Turkish customs before shipping and check your documents line by line before loading, so the container is not held at the port. Every case is set out in Turkey used household goods customs.
Packing Taif homes for a sea voyage
Taif enjoys mild, dry air most of the year, and furniture that has lived in it for years is about to spend two or three weeks in a container crossing the humid Red Sea, then arrive somewhere damp like Bursa or Trabzon. That swing from dry to humid is what hurts wood, leather and fabric most. So Taif furniture gets an insulating first layer of blankets or foam, then bubble wrap, then moisture-proof stretch film, with stiff cardboard guards on the edges of tables and wardrobes and moisture-absorbing sachets tucked into drawers and cartons.
Glass, marble and chandeliers travel in timber crates, mattresses in sealed covers. Every piece carries a number that matches a line in the inventory, and every appliance has its maker and serial number recorded, which is the first thing a Turkish customs officer checks on opening the container. We dismantle rooms and kitchens here and rebuild them there whenever you ask.

Rose water and honey
Keep large amounts of rose water, honey and any food out of the furniture. Turkey does not accept food or animal products in household goods, and liquids can leak and spoil whatever surrounds them. A passenger may carry up to 3 kg of plant-based food personally.
From Jeddah port to Mersin and Gemlik: the sea leg of a Taif shipment
When the Taif truck reaches Jeddah Islamic Port, the container is inspected, its number entered on the export declaration, and a crane swings it aboard. On the weekly direct line it reaches Mersin in about five days after climbing the Red Sea and passing through the Suez Canal, and İskenderun in about eight. Bursa and Yalova containers usually come off at Gemlik and Istanbul ones at Ambarlı, both reached on other lines or via an intermediate port, which makes them slower.
We review Red Sea shipping conditions and vessel schedules before confirming any booking, send you the Turkish port and estimated sailing, and let you know once the container docks and clearance starts. For more about the ports, see sea freight from Saudi Arabia to Turkey.

Delivery to Bursa, Yalova, Sapanca and Istanbul
Bursa is close to many Taif hearts, perhaps because Mount Uludağ and its fresh air call to mind Al-Hada and Al-Shafa. We deliver to Nilüfer, Osmangazi and Mudanya through nearby Gemlik, and to Yalova (Termal, Çınarcık) through the same port. Sapanca and Adapazarı are supplied from Ambarlı or İzmit, and Istanbul from Ambarlı, whether the address is on the European side (Başakşehir, Beylikdüzü, Esenyurt) or the Asian side (Üsküdar, Kadıköy, Ataşehir).
Heading for Trabzon or Uzungöl means a further 1,050 km or so by truck beyond Istanbul, while Antalya lies about 480 km from Mersin and Ankara around 500 km. We need a complete address and a Turkish mobile number for the person receiving the goods, and we agree the unloading and assembly time with you.

Air freight from Taif to Istanbul
Taif International Airport is linked to Istanbul Airport by Turkish Airlines direct flights as scheduled, roughly four a week, with about four hours and twenty minutes in the air. Should the timing not suit, we route the cargo through Jeddah, where some 55 weekly departures leave for Istanbul. The air rate starts at SAR 14 a kilo, with arrival in Istanbul in about three to five working days and in Bursa, Trabzon or Antalya in four to six.
Use the plane for papers, prescribed medicines, gifts and urgent clothing, and leave the furniture to the ship. Lithium batteries are taken out of devices, and cosmetics in bulk are refused on aircraft. Your phone should never go in a parcel, since Turkey turns back handsets arriving by post or express courier; keep it in your pocket while travelling. Shipping a car from Taif to Turkey: conditions first
We ship your car to Turkey once it satisfies Turkish customs, and permanent import there is open to one group only: Turks returning to settle. Their car may be at most three model years old, must have been registered to them abroad for at least six months before their last entry, must be brought in within six months of their return, and the right comes round only once every five years. The customs duty is lifted, but special consumption tax (ÖTV) and VAT still apply, and ÖTV, which rises with engine capacity and value, can outstrip the price of the car. A foreign resident’s car can enter only temporarily, until their residence ends, and may not be sold or lent.
When the conditions are met, we complete every Saudi formality in Taif: Absher export plates, settling fines, lifting the bank lien and the Fasah export entry. The car then goes down to Jeddah under cover and is strapped into a sealed container. Shipping starts from SAR 5,060, Turkish taxes are paid on arrival, and we do not send cars by plane or ro-ro vessel. Read this before deciding: car shipping from Saudi Arabia to Turkey.
Cartons, parcels and gifts from Taif
For things you send to children or relatives in Turkey: a parcel of up to 5 kg starts at SAR 138, one of 5–20 kg at SAR 365, papers at SAR 92 and a small electrical appliance at SAR 184. A personal parcel sent by post or express courier into Turkey has a 30 kg ceiling and cannot be commercial, so when your boxes add up to more we fold them into shared sea freight at a lower rate. Weight bands are on cartons and parcels shipping to Turkey.
Goods and equipment from Taif to Turkey
For Taif shops, farms and workshops, trade goods of up to 50 kg start at SAR 920, office supplies at SAR 1,100, industrial machinery at SAR 3,680 and a full container at SAR 4,140. The importer in Turkey must have a tax number, the cargo travels with its invoice, origin certificate and packing list, and duty is assessed on each item’s tariff heading before 20% VAT is applied. What a Turkey shipment cannot contain
We will not load weapons, ammunition, explosives or drugs into a Turkey shipment, nor aerosols, paints, gas cylinders, bleach or anything else that burns, nor drones, cash or shares, pornographic material, or plants and animals, living or dried. Household goods may not include food, alcohol, animal products or jewellery. Medicines need a prescription alongside them, and cosmetics and cleaning products are fine in the quantities one household uses. Saudi export rules also require advance permission for weapons, antiquities and subsidised goods.
Costing a shipment from Taif
The price rises or falls with the cubic metres you send, the container you choose, the Turkish port and the distance from it to your home, the level of packing, any insurance, and clearance costs in Turkey. From Taif one small item is added, the drive down to Jeddah, and it is already built into the starting prices.
Example: a family in Al-Hawiyah sending a living room, two bedrooms, a dining table, a fridge and a washer to their Bursa flat. Costed piece by piece, that begins at 2,665 + 920 + 920 + 1,380 + 735 + 735 = SAR 7,355, yet the lot fits a 20 ft container from SAR 4,140, filled and sealed at the house. That saves over SAR 3,000, and the private box arrives sooner as well, which is why we price both routes and send you the cheaper.
The most economical ways to ship from Taif to Turkey
- Send everything in one container rather than in instalments, as each lot is cleared and charged separately.
- Past ten cubic metres, a private 20 ft container costs less than shared space.
- Ask for the nearest arrival port: Gemlik for Bursa and Yalova, Mersin for Ankara and Antalya.
- Leave new appliances to Turkish shops; shipping them boxed means duty plus 20% VAT.
- Book at least a month ahead of the summer, when demand for Turkey peaks.
Mistakes Taif customers make when shipping to Turkey
- Sending furniture to a summer flat with no formal residence and meeting a tax bill at the port.
- A lease that is unnotarised or under 12 months, which will not qualify.
- Packing rose water, honey and dates among the furniture.
- Dispatching the shipment more than two months before you arrive.
- An inventory with no appliance serial numbers.
- Believing anyone who offers a road route to Turkey or delivery of furniture within a few days.
