Shipping from Dammam to Syria with Gulf International Shipping: we collect from Dammam, Khobar, Dhahran, Jubail and Al-Ahsa, run north to the Al-Haditha border post, travel under transit rules across Jordan to Jaber, and then, inside the Nassib customs yard, your goods switch to a licensed Syrian truck for the final stretch home. Delivery to Damascus takes about 8–11 working days. A carton up to 25 kg starts from SAR 165, a complete bedroom from SAR 2,575, a small apartment from SAR 3,680 and an eligible sedan from SAR 3,220.
From the Gulf coast to the Hauran plain is the longest run any Saudi city makes to Syria: close to 1,800 km, three customs points and a switch to a second truck. Price alone is therefore only half the question. You also need to know how your furniture is packed to survive a long, hot haul and two loadings, who watches your goods during the transfer at Nassib, and how many days to add for Homs or Aleppo. This guide is written for Eastern Province families, Jubail and Ras Tanura staff and traders in the industrial city, using the figures we actually work with.

How far is Dammam from Syria, and which road does the truck take?
There is no Saudi–Syrian land frontier; any consignment travelling by road has to cross Jordan first. From the Eastern Province, Gulf International Shipping trucks head for the Al-Haditha border post in Qurayyat governorate, the northern gateway closest to the eastern and central road network; across the line sits Jordan’s Al-Omari post. The Halat Ammar crossing near Tabuk normally serves the western cities, and we only route Eastern Province cargo that way when it is consolidated with other loads.
The full distance from Dammam to Damascus is roughly 1,750–1,850 km. The figure is approximate, because the exact length depends on the road the truck takes inside the Kingdom. Most of the mileage is inside the Kingdom, then comes the Jordanian stretch to the northern border, and after Nassib only about 100 km remain to the Syrian capital.
Note: the total distance from Dammam to Damascus is about 1,750–1,850 km; distances inside Syria are measured from Damascus.
Why does the shipment stop at Nassib? The truck-to-truck transfer
This is the point most shipping pages leave out: Saudi trucks do not currently drive inside Syria. The Syrian rules in force admit Syrian trucks, transit trucks under customs escort and certain Jordanian trucks carrying Jordanian-origin goods. A load from Dammam fits none of those, so our truck stops at the border and the cargo is transferred in the Nassib customs yard: taken off the Saudi truck and placed directly on a licensed Syrian one, which drives it the rest of the way.
A transfer means your belongings are handled twice instead of once, and that is where one mover differs from another. At Gulf International Shipping the transfer is built into the plan rather than discovered at the border:
- Numbering and photos: every piece carries a number matching the inventory, and we photograph the load before it leaves Dammam
- Packing for a second lift: reinforced corner boards and wrapping that stays tight when a piece is pulled from one truck to another
- Smart stacking: heavy items low, fragile goods in clearly marked cartons that are easy to spot when unloading
- Someone in the yard: our representative oversees the count and checks the list during the transfer, then confirms when the Syrian truck moves off
- The receiving truck: a Syrian carrier licensed to haul from the crossing, not a passing truck hired in a hurry
Open around the clock, but queues happen
The Jaber–Nassib crossing runs 24 hours a day and handles heavy truck traffic. Lorries can still wait a day or more in busy seasons or while the yards are being expanded, and that is already built into the transit times we quote.

For crossing hours and yard procedures, read our Nassib border crossing guide; for the Jordanian leg of the trip, see shipping company from Saudi Arabia to Syria.
How long does shipping from Dammam to Syria take?
Dammam runs about a day longer than Riyadh, because the truck covers more ground before it reaches Al-Haditha. Every schedule we give allows for three possible waits: the Fasah slot on the Saudi side, the Jordanian transit, and the Jaber–Nassib queue with the transfer and clearance. The table shows a dedicated truck; a shared load adds 3–5 days while the truck fills.
Note: times are approximate and depend on congestion at Jaber and Nassib, the speed of the transfer and clearance; we confirm the date when you book.
Shipping prices from Dammam to Syria
We found no company publishing separate prices for the Dammam–Syria route, so in the Eastern Province we use the Riyadh price list, the nearest city with published rates, and set our figures below what companies there advertise. Each row shows two figures: the lower is our starting rate, the higher is the normal ceiling for big volumes or Syrian cities far beyond Damascus.
Note: road freight from Dammam to Damascus takes about 8–11 working days, and air freight 3–5 days door to door.
And the detailed list of items Eastern Province customers ask about most:
These prices cover Damascus and its surroundings. Delivery to Aleppo, Latakia or Hasakah costs more according to the distance beyond Damascus, so send us the city and district for a final figure. Our shipping prices from Saudi Arabia to Syria page sets Dammam beside every other Saudi city.
Moving household furniture from Dammam and Khobar to Syria
Homes in Dammam and Khobar sit close to the sea, and humidity stays high for much of the year. That matters for wood, mattresses and appliances shut inside a truck box for days on a hot desert road. Our furniture packing therefore starts by airing and drying each piece, then a layer of bubble wrap, reinforced cardboard on the corners and a tight outer wrap. We place moisture absorbers inside closed drawers and wardrobes and seal mattresses in bags so nothing smells musty when it is opened in Syria.
- Bedrooms: beds and wardrobes taken apart, with every screw kept in a labelled pouch fixed to its own panel
- Majlis and sofas: a clean fabric cover first, then bubble wrap, so plastic never sticks to upholstery in the heat
- Kitchens: upper and lower units dismantled and numbered; stone or marble tops packed on a timber board
- Appliances: AC gas recovered, washer drum locked, fridge dried before closing
- Glass and ornaments: custom wooden crates for mirrors, chandeliers and valuables
- Rugs: rolled, never folded, inside a dust cover
Duty relief for returning Syrians
Under the latest published rules, a Syrian moving home for good may import their used furniture and belongings duty-free on one occasion, on condition that they spent six months or more abroad, have an inventory certified by the Syrian embassy in Riyadh, attend in person, and the used goods stay within one household’s needs: at most three bedrooms, two sets of seating, one dining set, three rugs and no more than one of any appliance, with no sale for three years. As Syria has recently issued a new customs law, we confirm the conditions with the authority before loading.
If you live in Dammam and must travel before your furniture, we can take the keys, pack and load in front of the person you authorise, and send photos and the list by WhatsApp. Goods can also wait in our warehouse until your papers or your home in Syria are ready. The allowed quantities are explained item by item in Syria used household goods customs, while our furniture moving from Saudi Arabia to Syria page walks through the packing.
Commercial cargo from the Eastern Province to Syria: full or part truckload
The Eastern Province is home to industrial cities and large distribution warehouses, so more commercial requests reach us from here than from anywhere else: light building materials, spare parts, electrical goods, packaged food and shop fittings. You have two options:
- Full truckload (FTL): the truck is yours alone, leaves as soon as your goods are ready, arrives sooner and is transferred whole at Nassib
- Part load (LTL): you pay by weight or volume and share the truck; road freight starts from SAR 4.6 per kg for quantities
Every trade consignment travels with its own file: certificate of origin, invoice and packing list, plus the CR or the Syrian importer’s details, and duty is assessed line by line under the Syrian tariff. We agree the paperwork with the clearing agent at Nassib before the truck arrives so the cargo does not sit in the yard. Food and medicines need heat-appropriate packing, and we tell you in advance if a product needs special approval.

Air freight from Dammam to Syria
When a consignment cannot spend a week and a half on the road, the answer is King Fahd International Airport in Dammam. Direct flights link Dammam and Damascus according to the airline schedule, including flynas and Syrian Air, with a flight time of around two hours. Air freight with Gulf International Shipping starts from SAR 23 per kg and a 10 kg parcel from SAR 230, delivered door to door in 3–5 days depending on flights and clearance.
- Good for: documents, permitted personal medicines, small electronics and urgent gifts
- Not for: furniture, large appliances and cars, which go by road
- Chargeable weight: airlines bill whichever is higher, scale weight or volume weight, so bulky light boxes are poor value by air
- Aleppo: served through the Riyadh–Aleppo flights; we move the parcel from Dammam to connect
Weight limits and departure airports: see the air freight from Saudi Arabia to Syria page.
Can I ship a car from Dammam to Syria?
Put plainly: Syria is not accepting used cars for local registration at present. What the import decision in force allows is a brand-new car whose model year falls within the last two years, paying duty by tariff, and a Syrian expatriate can bring their Saudi-registered car in on temporary entry for a set period without selling it. Motorcycles of every kind are banned. So when we talk about car shipping, we mean these cases only.
For eligible cars, we carry the vehicle from Dammam on an enclosed or open carrier to Nassib and complete the Saudi export steps with you through Absher and Fasah. A sedan starts from SAR 3,220, an SUV from SAR 4,140 and a luxury car from SAR 5,520. Be wary of adverts promising to bring in any used model for a small fee; officials have denied those rumours. The accepted cases are set out in car shipping from Saudi Arabia to Syria in detail.
Is there sea freight from Dammam to Syria?
King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam faces the Arabian Gulf, so reaching the Syrian coast by sea from here means sailing around the entire Arabian Peninsula, and we do not use it for this route. Sea only makes sense for a full commercial container shipped out of Jeddah Islamic Port to a Syrian port with a change of vessel en route, and we arrange it on request only. Eastern Province furniture, cars and parcels take the road through Jordan, which is shorter and costs less.
Documents needed to ship from Dammam to Syria
We ask for the list in Arabic with a short English translation when needed, because the shipment passes through three countries’ customs. The more precise the list, the faster the transfer at Nassib, since checks run against a clear document rather than guesswork.
Prohibited and restricted items for Syria
- motorcycles of all types, new or used
- weapons, ammunition, narcotics and dangerous goods
- walkie-talkies and remote-controlled drones, cars and toys
- goods of Israeli origin
- gas cylinders, fuel, chemicals and flammable liquids
- large sums of cash without a permit
- and from the Kingdom itself: antiquities, subsidised products and other export-controlled goods
Some items are not banned but are dutiable or inspected, such as new electronics, binoculars and live animals. If you are unsure about something, photograph it and message us before it goes into a carton, and we will say whether it is accepted.

Collection areas in the Eastern Province and delivery cities in Syria
We collect across Dammam, including Al-Shati, Al-Faisaliyah, Al-Mazruiyah and Al-Jalawiyah, and from the neighbouring cities. A few practical details vary by city; the base price does not:
In Syria we deliver to Damascus and districts such as Mezzeh, Muhajireen, Baramkeh, Midan, Rukn al-Din and Kafr Sousa; Rif Dimashq towns such as Jaramana, Sahnaya, Qudsaya and Al-Tall; Daraa, the first governorate after Nassib; Sweida and Quneitra; Homs, Hama and Salamiyah; Aleppo; Idlib; Latakia and Jableh; Tartus and Baniyas; and Deir ez-Zor, Raqqa, Hasakah and Qamishli.

How is the cost of shipping from Dammam to Syria calculated?
Your quote is made of clear components, and you can reduce some of them yourself:
- Volume or weight: furniture by volume, parcels by weight or carton, commercial cargo per kg or tonne
- Truck type: dedicated is dearer and quicker; shared is cheaper and several days slower
- Work at your home: dismantling, packing, reassembly, floors and lift access
- Syrian city: delivery beyond Damascus to the north, coast or northeast costs more
- Transfer and clearance: handling at Nassib and clearance by shipment type
- Insurance: 0.9% of the value you declare
A rough example: a family in Khobar moves a two-bedroom flat to Damascus. A small apartment starts from SAR 3,680; insuring a declared value of SAR 25,000 adds about SAR 225; clearance is then added case by case. If the goods are cartons only, a part load from SAR 1,655 may be enough.
What is the cheapest way to ship from Dammam to Syria?
- choose a shared load if your date is flexible, splitting the truck cost with other customers
- leave heavy old furniture behind; some pieces cost more to move than they are worth
- pack small items in cartons of similar weight instead of dozens of bags
- fly only the urgent items and send the rest by road
- have the certified exemption list ready before loading so you pay no duty on used furniture
Common mistakes when shipping from Dammam to Syria
- Believing three-day promises: the distance alone is close to 1,800 km with three customs points and a transfer
- Ignoring humidity: wooden furniture sealed damp in Dammam can arrive swollen or musty
- A vague inventory: “household goods” on every carton slows inspection and weakens a relief claim
- Shipping a used car: used cars are not currently accepted for local use, whatever an advert says
- Packing a motorbike: motorcycles are banned outright, even inside a furniture load
Payment, insurance and tracking
You pay for the move in Saudi riyals here in the Kingdom, and we carry personal belongings and permitted civilian goods only. Cover costs from 0.9% of what you declare and is your choice, though we suggest it for good furniture and appliances. We follow the truck to Nassib and then the Syrian truck to delivery, with an update at each stage: leaving Dammam, crossing Al-Haditha, reaching Jaber, completing the transfer and arriving.
