Gulf International Shipping works as a shipping company from Taif to Morocco: we pack your furniture, belongings and goods at your home in Taif, our truck takes them about 170 km down to Jeddah Islamic Port, where they are boxed onto a vessel that crosses Suez and the Mediterranean to Tanger Med or Casablanca; after Moroccan customs, a truck brings them to your door. Allow three to four and a half weeks from a Taif doorstep to one in Tangier, Fes, Rabat or Casablanca, a little longer for Marrakech, Agadir and the south, while air shipments routed through Jeddah land within 3–7 days. Prices from Taif start low: a small parcel goes from SAR 110, bedroom furniture from SAR 1,380, the contents of a home from SAR 3,680, a private twenty-foot container from SAR 4,140, and a car licensed less than five years ago from SAR 4,600.
Taif is a mountain city, and its homes are mostly spacious villas and houses with gardens, plus farms out at Al-Shafa and Al-Hada. That makes a Taif shipment to Morocco a little different from a Jeddah flat: bigger volumes, heavy timber pieces, and a road that drops from the highlands to the coast before the long sea voyage even begins. This article explains each stage, shows the starting price for every service, and answers the questions Moroccans living in Taif ask about customs, cars and paperwork.

How does your shipment get from Taif to Jeddah port?
Taif has no seaport and there is no road route to Morocco, so every Taif shipment to Morocco starts with a short run to the coast. Once packed, your belongings go into a closed truck that descends from the Taif highlands to the Tihama plain and on to Jeddah along the road permitted for trucks, covering about 170 km in a few hours. For a full container we can bring the box to your door, load it in front of you and seal it, so it goes down to the port without being opened again. Smaller shipments go to our consolidation warehouse in Jeddah and are stowed in a shared container with other Morocco-bound goods.
Being this close to Jeddah is a real advantage: inland haulage costs little and loading-to-port takes no more than a day. That is why Taif prices in our tables sit very close to Jeddah’s own, and below those of distant cities such as Riyadh, Tabuk and Dammam, whose trucks cover a thousand kilometres or more before reaching the sea.

How long is the trip from Taif to Morocco?
The longest part of the journey is the sea: about 10 days from Jeddah Islamic Port to Tanger Med through the Suez Canal. Add a day to truck the goods from Taif to Jeddah, 3–7 days for Saudi export on the Fasah platform and the wait for the weekly sailing, then Moroccan clearance and delivery. The total depends on the Moroccan city:
These times are approximate and follow the sailing schedule and clearance. Shared freight can take up to a week longer, because a shared container does not sail until it is full. If you have a fixed travel date, book at least five weeks before you fly so that your belongings are in Morocco when you arrive or soon after. You will have the box number and vessel date from us, and a message the day it berths in Morocco.
What happens in the Suez Canal and the Mediterranean?
Out of Jeddah the ship runs north the length of the Red Sea, enters the canal at Suez, leaves it at Port Said and then crosses the whole Mediterranean westward; Tanger Med is at the far end, on the African side of the strait. We only book services that take the Suez route from Jeddah, and we match the vessel date to your loading day before confirming. If your destination is in central or southern Morocco, the container is moved on to Casablanca from Tangier or on another service, or cleared in Tangier and trucked onward; we pick the more economical option with you.
Approximate shipping prices from Taif to Morocco
Gulf International Shipping’s prices from Taif are below the rates other companies publish, and set so that no item costs more than it would from a city farther from the port. Treat each number as the floor; it is adjusted once we know how much you are sending, how heavy it is and which Moroccan city it is going to.
Note: a Taif sea shipment needs about three to four and a half weeks to reach the north, Rabat and Casablanca, and two to four days on top for Marrakech and Agadir; by air through Jeddah it is 3–7 days.
Item and appliance prices from Taif
Our freight charge leaves out whatever Moroccan customs collects on brand-new items; that sum is set by the nature and price of the goods. A full city-by-city comparison is in shipping prices from Saudi Arabia to Morocco.
Packing villa and house furniture in Taif
We collect from every part of Taif, including Al-Hawiyah, Shihar, Al-Qamariyah, Al-Faisaliyah, Nakhab, Al-Washha and Al-Rudaf, and from Al-Shafa, Al-Hada, Maysan, Turabah and Al-Khurmah. In Taif’s large homes we often meet pieces you rarely see in flats: big solid-wood wardrobes, dining tables for twelve, complete Arabic majlis sets and garden furniture. These are dismantled where possible, each piece wrapped in blankets and then layers of film, corners protected with card guards, and legs and handles bagged, numbered and tied to the piece they belong to so nothing goes missing.

From dry Taif air to sea humidity
This is something many people overlook: furniture packed in Taif’s cool, dry air goes into a steel container that will spend weeks crossing the Red Sea and the Mediterranean, and the swing between hot days and cool nights forms condensation inside the box. So we put moisture absorbers between your belongings, never seal cartons over clothes or rugs that are still slightly damp from washing, raise the furniture off the container floor on timber boards, and seal mattresses in fitted plastic covers. Appliances are drained and left with their doors ajar for a day before packing.
Each item gets a photo and a number on a list in Arabic or French; customs in Morocco accepts that same list, and at delivery you tick items off against it. If you need time before shipping, we offer temporary storage in a closed warehouse. For more on household moves, read furniture moving from Saudi Arabia to Morocco.
Is a 20 ft container enough for your Taif home?
A 20 ft container holds about 28–33 cubic metres and usually takes a two- or three-bedroom flat. A villa with four bedrooms, a majlis, a living room and a large kitchen generally needs a 40 ft container, which holds about 58–67 cubic metres. If you are sending a room or two and some cartons, shared freight by the cubic metre suits you better than booking a whole container.
Before the survey
Decide what stays in Taif before we measure — tired mattresses, heavy iron garden sets, an old fridge whose freight would exceed its value. Every cubic metre less makes a clear difference to the price, and can move your home from a 40 ft down to a 20 ft container.
Used furniture customs for Moroccans returning from Taif
If you are a Moroccan living in Taif and have decided to return for good, Morocco lets your second-hand furniture, clothes and belongings in without duty, plus one appliance of each kind, up to the limit its customs service applies; a household can do this a single time. We confirm the current conditions before you ship. The key document is the original change-of-residence certificate, obtained from the Consulate General of Morocco in Jeddah, the closest to Taif, or from the embassy in Riyadh. Alongside it you will need an itemised list you have dated and signed, a copy of the passport page with your Moroccan entry stamp, your CIN, and a signed statement that nothing is new.
If part of the house has to stay behind for now, it can follow later, as long as those pieces were on your original list and the second consignment is cleared by the office that handled the first, within six months of the certificate. Anything new is charged duty and 20% VAT. Collect promptly: Moroccan customs holds uncleared cargo for around 45 days only. The full details are in household goods rules for Moroccans returning home.
Car shipping from Taif to Morocco
Start with one question: when was the car first licensed? Morocco will not register an imported private car once five years have passed since that date; only retired Moroccans coming home from abroad may bring one up to ten years old, on conditions. If yours is within the limit, we carry it from Taif and ship it boxed from Jeddah for SAR 4,600 and up.
The car rides down to Jeddah on a covered transporter and is then fixed in the container and sheeted. First, though, it must be exported for good on Absher, with its declaration lodged on Fasah. Moroccan customs then charges duty and 20% VAT according to price, tax horsepower and first-licence date — none of which is part of our fee. Members of the Moroccan community abroad have conditional concessions: a car may be admitted temporarily for no more than 180 days in a calendar year, and over-60s with ten-plus years outside Morocco can claim a substantial reduction one time. Read car shipping from Saudi Arabia to Morocco before you decide.
Air freight from Taif to Morocco via Jeddah airport
Taif airport has no Morocco flights, so we drive your parcel to Jeddah’s King Abdulaziz Airport and put it on a nonstop to Casablanca or Rabat, about seven hours in the air; once cleared it is with the receiver 3–7 days after pickup. The smallest urgent air consignment costs SAR 1,655, and heavier ones are billed per kilo, using the heavier of actual and dimensional weight — send us yours. Air suits official papers, prescribed medicines and small devices; details are in air freight from Saudi Arabia to Morocco.
Shipping cartons and gifts from Taif
Many Taif residents send family in Morocco cartons of clothes, personal things and gifts made in Taif. Cartons begin at SAR 165, a small parcel of up to 5 kg at SAR 110, and up to 20 kg at SAR 184. Rose water, rose oil and honey should be sealed tightly and listed on the inventory; they travel by sea in personal quantities, and flammable perfumes are not sent by air. Bear in mind that a stack of brand-new garments can be classed as merchandise at the Moroccan border. Carton weights and prices are in cartons and parcels shipping to Morocco.
Shipping goods and equipment from Taif
Taif shops and firms selling to Moroccan buyers can use shared space or a whole box. Commercial lots of up to 100 kg cost from SAR 825; light equipment, SAR 1,380; heavy plant from SAR 2,760 and small medical equipment from SAR 1,100. Send us your sales invoice, packing list, CR copy and, for Saudi-made products, an origin certificate, along with the name of the buyer’s clearing agent. Fresh farm produce does not suit a sea voyage this long, so for food we recommend dried or tinned products that meet Moroccan import requirements.
Delivery in Marrakech and every Moroccan city
Once the shipment leaves the Moroccan port, a truck takes it to your address in any city: Tangier, Tetouan and Chefchaouen in the north; Fes and Meknes; Rabat, Salé and Kenitra; Casablanca, Mohammedia and El Jadida; Marrakech, Essaouira and Safi; Agadir, Taroudant and Tiznit; Oujda and Nador; the Beni Mellal and Tafilalet areas; and further south when requested. The delivery team calls the receiver ahead to agree a time.

Marrakech is a destination many of our Taif customers ask about. Containers cannot sail to Marrakech because it is inland, so the shipment is cleared in Casablanca or Tangier and continues by truck, which is why it takes two to four days longer. In the Marrakech medina, where the derbs are narrow, the truck stops at the nearest entrance and the crew carries everything to the house or riad. Tell us what the address is like in advance so we can plan for it.
Documents required for shipping from Taif to Morocco
- Every shipment: copies of the sender’s passport and iqama, what is inside, our Fasah e-mandate, and the Moroccan collector’s name, mobile and CIN copy.
- Moving home for good: the consulate’s residence-change certificate (original), your signed and dated list in Arabic or French, the passport with its Moroccan entry stamp, a used-goods statement, and a notarised proxy for anyone collecting on your behalf.
- Cars: the registration card, proof of permanent export from Absher, and ownership papers in the owner’s name.
- Trade goods: sales invoice, packing list, CR and origin certificate.
Most hold-ups come from a name transliterated two ways on Saudi and Moroccan papers, or a list that disagrees with the load. We check the papers with you before loading so there are no surprises at the port.
What cannot be shipped to Morocco?
- Not allowed in: guns and ammunition, drugs, counterfeits, anything against public order, every kind of drone, and any map that omits part of Morocco.
- Permission first: unprescribed medicine, walkie-talkies and satellite handsets, shotguns for hunting, pets and livestock, seeds and plants.
- Looked at closely: new garments or shoes in bulk, lots of canned food, and old collectibles.
- Saudi exit rules: antiquities, manuscripts and subsidised items stay behind; AC units and fridges are degassed if required.
What decides the price of a Taif shipment to Morocco?
Gulf International Shipping works out the cost from volume in cubic metres for furniture and from weight for parcels and air freight, then factors in the container type, the packing level, the Moroccan city and the season. Take an example at starting prices: a villa in Al-Hawiyah with about 55 cubic metres of furniture. Paying for 55 shared cubic metres would top SAR 42,000 (55 × 780); two twenty-foot boxes would begin at SAR 8,280; one forty-foot box, from SAR 6,440, is plainly the answer. That is why we never quote before we know the volume.
Keeping a Taif shipment to Morocco affordable
- A shared container for small shipments, from SAR 780 per cubic metre.
- A full container once your volume passes 5–6 cubic metres, and a 40 ft for villas rather than two smaller boxes.
- Sorting your belongings before the survey and leaving behind what is not worth shipping.
- Reserving space well before the summer rush of families travelling home.
- Sticking to sea freight and keeping air for urgent items only.
Where Taif shipments to Morocco go wrong
- Sealing cartons over clothes or rugs that are not fully dry, so they arrive smelling damp.
- Assuming the shipment leaves from a nearby port other than Jeddah, or believing adverts for “road freight to Morocco”.
- Putting off the trip to the Jeddah consulate for the residence-change certificate.
- Sending a car already past five years from first licence and hoping for the best.
- Sending large amounts of new gifts as personal effects.
- Forgetting that Marrakech and Agadir need extra days after the port.
