Approximate shipping prices from Saudi Arabia to Qatar
Note: road freight to Doha usually takes one to 3 days from the Eastern Province, two to 4 days from Riyadh and 3 to 5 working days from Jeddah, Makkah and Taif, while air arrives in 24–48 hours.
In each row, the first figure is Gulf International Shipping’s starting price and the second is the upper limit the market publishes for the same service, so you can see where our price sits in the market range. Where no published range exists for an item, we write “from” only and never invent a ceiling.
Where do these figures come from?
We did not guess these prices. We collected what carriers serving Qatar publish from Riyadh, Dammam and Jeddah, plus pages covering the whole Kingdom, took the lowest published figure for each item in each city, then cut it by 5% to 10% and rounded down. That is why you see figures like 1,380 and 3,230 rather than round numbers.
Nobody advertises Qatar prices out of Makkah, Taif, Madinah or Tabuk, so those four borrow Jeddah’s list as the closest priced city, and anything Jeddah does not publish is taken from Riyadh. For Dammam our rule is that no item costs more than it does from Riyadh, because the road from the Eastern Province to Salwa is much shorter.
Find your price in three steps
- 1Pick your departure city
Riyadh has its own table, Dammam and Al-Ahsa have theirs, and Jeddah, Makkah, Taif, Madinah and Tabuk follow Jeddah’s. - 2Pick the shipment size
A parcel or cartons, single items, a room, a full home, a car, or commercial goods. - 3Pick the mode
Shared road freight is cheapest, a dedicated truck is faster, and air is for urgent, light items only.
Shipping prices to Qatar by departure city
This table puts the most requested items side by side, so you can see how distance affects price. Prices are in SAR and start from the figure shown:
Note: figures borrowed from a nearer priced city are explained in the previous section, and road time grows the further the departure city is from Salwa.
The biggest gap shows up in furniture and cars from the west, because a truck from Jeddah covers about 1,550 km to Doha, against about 600 km from Riyadh and about 400 km from Dammam. Parcels and cartons are priced closely across cities because they travel in consolidated trucks whose cost is spread over dozens of customers.
Prices for documents and small parcels to Qatar
Small shipments are what individuals search for most: official papers, a gift, children’s clothes or a gadget. They are priced per item or by weight, and the chargeable weight is the greater of the actual and volumetric weight.
To get volumetric weight, multiply the three box dimensions in centimetres and divide by 5000. So a box measuring 50, 40 and 40 cm counts as 16 kg, even if it holds light clothes weighing 8 kg. In Qatar a personal parcel valued at QAR 1,000 or less usually clears without duty. Small shipments get a page of their own: cartons and parcels shipping to Qatar.
Prices for cartons, suitcases and personal belongings
- Carton up to 30 kg from Riyadh: from SAR 120, with market prices reaching about SAR 190
- Dammam boxes of up to 50 kg each: SAR 138 and up
- Suitcase: from SAR 138 from any city
- Consolidated personal effects from Jeddah: from SAR 740
- Mixed belongings per cubic metre: from SAR 415 from Riyadh and Dammam, and SAR 555 from Jeddah
With more than 10 cartons, pricing by cubic metre often works out cheaper than pricing per carton. We calculate both and send you the lower one.
Prices for appliances and single items
Sometimes a customer does not need a house move, just a fridge, an AC unit or one wardrobe. These are single-item prices from any Saudi city:
New appliances
New appliances and furniture fall outside the used-goods exemption at Qatari customs. If the fridge or TV is new in its box, expect duty on it, usually 5% unless it is of GCC origin.
Furniture moving prices to Qatar: from one room to a villa
Furniture pricing depends on volume in cubic metres and on the service: do we dismantle, wrap and reassemble, or do you hand the pieces over ready? These starting prices run from smallest to largest:

Used furniture belonging to someone moving to Qatar for work for the first time may enter duty-free, if it arrives within 6 months of their entry with the employer letter, residence permit and item list, and is not disposed of for one year. That exemption can save you more than any discount on freight, so do not delay shipping your furniture. Read Qatar used household goods customs for the conditions and furniture moving from Saudi Arabia to Qatar for the move itself.
Car shipping prices from Saudi Arabia to Qatar
Add Qatar’s duty of 5% of the vehicle’s worth on top, because a private car is not part of the used-furniture exemption, and there is no VAT. Check before booking that your car’s age is acceptable in Qatar. We cover the age rules and papers in car shipping from Saudi Arabia to Qatar at length.
Commercial freight prices: per kg, per tonne or per truck

When should you choose a full truck over shared freight? As a rule of thumb, a shipment that fills more than half a truck is usually cheaper on a dedicated vehicle, because you pay a fixed price and leave on your date. A few pallets are better off shared. Saudi-made goods have one important advantage: a GCC certificate of origin means they are usually treated as national goods in Qatar, while non-GCC goods pay 5%. Shop owners and manufacturers will find more in goods shipping from Saudi Arabia to Qatar for B2B loads.
Air freight from Saudi Arabia to Qatar: price per cubic metre and per kilo
At Gulf International Shipping, flying goods into Hamad International costs from SAR 1,110 a cubic metre for furniture and personal effects, from SAR 555 for a single appliance and from SAR 41 a kilo for express parcels, and the door-to-door trip takes a day or two.
Air freight to Qatar costs roughly twice as much as road per cubic metre, or more, while the time saved from Riyadh and Dammam is small. We therefore recommend it only for light, urgent items. If you are comparing airports, see air freight from Saudi Arabia to Qatar for each one.
What do you pay on top of freight? Qatari charges and extras
Our freight price normally covers transport from your address in the Kingdom to your address in Qatar. Some items may be added depending on your shipment:
- Qatari customs duty: Qatar has no VAT so far; duty of 5% is generally levied on goods of non-GCC origin and on cars
- Customs clearance: from SAR 138
- Used furniture: exempt under its conditions for first-time work arrivals; otherwise 5% may be charged on its value
- Personal parcels: usually exempt up to a value of QAR 1,000
- Special packing: wooden crates for glass, marble and large screens are priced by size
- Insurance: optional, calculated on the value of the goods you declare
- Storage before shipping: available on request, priced by duration and volume

How to save on shipping costs to Qatar
- Take the shared truck whenever your date can flex, as cartons and part loads cost least that way
- Reduce the volume: sell or donate what you will not use in Qatar, as every cubic metre has a price
- Dismantle what you can, such as beds and tables, since dismantled pieces take less space
- Use the used-furniture exemption by shipping within 6 months of entering Qatar
- Attach a certificate of origin to Saudi-made goods to avoid 5% duty
- Combine car and furniture in one booking to coordinate clearance
- In the west, ask about a part load from Jeddah rather than a full truck for a small shipment
