Gulf International Shipping, a shipping company from Tabuk to Qatar, moves household furniture, cartons, cars and goods from Tabuk city and its governorates to Doha, Umm Salal, Al Wakrah, Al Rayyan, Lusail and every Qatari city, on the longest road linking any Saudi city to Qatar: about 1,900 km from the north-west by way of Hail, Qassim, Riyadh and Hofuf, leaving the Kingdom at Salwa and entering Qatar at Abu Samra. A road shipment takes about 5 to 7 days, and air freight usually cuts that to 24–48 hours.

The longest road to Qatar: what it means for your Tabuk shipment
Tabuk sits in Saudi Arabia’s far north-west and the Salwa crossing in the far east on the Qatari border, so the truck crosses the country almost diagonally. The usual heavy-freight route runs through Tayma and then Hail along the edge of the Nafud desert, drops down to Qassim and Riyadh, and from Riyadh heads through Khurais to Hofuf and on to Salwa. The total is about 1,900 km to Doha, close to 19 hours of pure driving.
That distance changes three things about your shipment. First, price: fuel and driver hours cost more, which makes shared freight more worthwhile. Second, packing: the goods spend days in the truck through swings of heat and cold. Third, planning: any gap in the paperwork is discovered at Salwa after the truck has already covered more than 1,700 km, so there is no room for a quick fix.

Note: route and legs are approximate, and the consolidation point may change with the size of the shipment.
To see what happens to a load at the crossing itself and how data is filed before arrival, read our guide to the Salwa and Abu Samra border crossing.
Shared or dedicated truck from Tabuk to Qatar?
This is the biggest decision for a Tabuk shipment. From cities close to Qatar the difference between the two options is a single day, but from Tabuk a shared load may take longer to fill a truck, because fewer shipments head from Tabuk to Qatar than from Riyadh or Dammam. So Gulf International Shipping groups loads from Tabuk and the nearby governorates, and may move them to Riyadh to join an eastbound truck.
A rule of thumb we share with customers: once a load passes roughly 11 cubic metres, the per-metre cost of shared freight approaches the price of a dedicated jumbo dyna, and at that point the dedicated truck wins because it is faster and handles your goods less. Below that volume, shared freight stays the cheaper option.
Approximate shipping prices from Tabuk to Qatar
We found no competitor publishing prices for the Tabuk–Qatar lane. Of the cities with published rates to Qatar, the nearest to Tabuk is Jeddah, about 1,000 km away against about 1,300 km to Riyadh, so we used Jeddah’s published prices, set our starting price 5–10% below them, and filled the missing items from published Riyadh prices.
Note: road freight from Tabuk to Qatar takes about 5–7 days depending on the Qatari city, the shipping method and customs clearance; air usually takes 24–48 hours.

How long does shipping from Tabuk to Qatar take?
We tell Tabuk customers to expect about 5 to 7 days by road, an estimate based on the distance, the driver’s mandatory rest hours and the formalities at both crossings. Roughly two days on the road to Riyadh, a day to Salwa, a day for the crossing and the run to Doha, and a day or more for collection, consolidation and delivery. Air freight usually arrives within 24–48 hours and may take a little longer if it routes through another airport.
Packing a Tabuk household for a 1,900 km trip
Tabuk is known for its cold winters, while the road to Qatar ends on a hot and humid eastern coast for most of the year. Moving between such different conditions, with days of road vibration, calls for heavier packing than usual. At Gulf International Shipping we wrap wood in thick moving blankets topped with reinforced film, protect corners with cardboard guards, and box electronics with shock-absorbing padding.
Inside the truck we stow heavy pieces low and against the front wall, strap sofas and wardrobes, and fill gaps with cartons so nothing shifts on long bends. Every piece is photographed and numbered, so in Qatar you receive a list that matches exactly what left your home.

- Electronics: packed in their original boxes if you have them, or in bubble wrap and double-wall cartons, kept away from the truck walls
- Fridges and washers: drained and dried at least a day before, with drums and doors secured
- Glass and mirrors: in padded wooden crates, carried upright rather than flat
- Rugs and bedding: rolled and covered in film so they don’t absorb dust and moisture

Tabuk districts and governorates we collect from
Inside Tabuk we collect from Al Muruj, Al Sulaimaniyah, Al Masif, Al Faisaliyah, Al Wurud, Al Nakheel, Al Akhdar, Al Safa, Al Aziziyah, Al Rayyan, Al Qadisiyah, Al Rawdah and others. Beyond the city we also cover Haql, Al Bad, Duba, Al Wajh and Umluj on the coast and Tayma inland. Loads from the coastal governorates such as Al Wajh, Umluj and Duba are gathered first and then join the eastbound truck, so we agree your collection date a day or two before the truck departs.
Many Tabuk shipments to Qatar belong to employees and families who have finished their work in the region and moved to a new job in Doha; others are traders sending the region’s produce. Either way we start with a quick survey by photo on WhatsApp, then settle the volume and the right method.

Car shipping from Tabuk to Qatar
Moving a car from Tabuk to Qatar is a long ride on a carrier, so we spell out both options. An open carrier is cheaper, from SAR 2,030 for a sedan, SAR 2,590 for an SUV and SAR 3,230 for a sports car or EV, but it exposes the car to Nafud dust and road sun for nearly 1,900 km. An enclosed hydraulic carrier starts from SAR 3,880 for a sedan, SAR 4,600 for an SUV and SAR 5,540 for a sports car or EV, and we recommend it for new and luxury cars.
Before shipping: can your car be registered in Qatar?
Qatar usually requires a light vehicle to be no older than 5 years from its model year, with a limited number of exceptions, among them classic cars more than 35 years old. Qatar does not accept a car converted from right-hand drive, or one that has been flooded, burnt or structurally damaged in an accident. You will pay 5% duty on what the car is worth but no VAT, and the household-goods relief never extends to vehicles. After entry you need temporary border insurance, then a technical inspection and traffic registration within 14 days.
Export paperwork for a car from Tabuk
- A traffic export certificate, with Saudi plates surrendered and export plates fitted.
- A valid periodic inspection and clearance of traffic fines.
- The istimara, the owner’s ID or iqama and an electronic authorisation for the carrier.
- Consent from the finance company if the car still has instalments.
- For a temporary visit only: a valid registration with a triptyque or carnet.
We hand the car to the carrier after photographing it from every side, with about a quarter tank and nothing inside. Full details are in car shipping from Saudi Arabia to Qatar.
Air freight from Tabuk to Qatar
From Tabuk, air freight becomes a more serious option than from any other city, because the gap between 5–7 days by road and 24–48 hours by air is large. Flying time from Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz Airport in Tabuk to Doha is about 3 hours, and depending on available flights the shipment may route via Riyadh or Jeddah before reaching Hamad International Airport.
Air rates from Tabuk open at SAR 41 per kilo for express parcels, SAR 555 for one appliance, and furniture or general cargo at SAR 1,110 a cubic metre. Each parcel is billed on its actual or volumetric weight, whichever is greater, where volumetric weight = length × width × height in cm ÷ 5,000. From Tabuk we suggest air for documents, valuable devices and a family’s first-week essentials, leaving heavy furniture to the road. More in air freight from Saudi Arabia to Qatar.
Can your used household goods from Tabuk enter Qatar duty-free?
Non-Qataris taking up their first job in Qatar can bring their used furniture, home appliances and personal effects in duty-free under the General Authority of Customs rules. The paperwork: a letter from your employer naming your position and nationality, your work residence permit and a copy of your ID, and an inventory of your luggage and belongings, which customs stamps.
Three conditions need planning from Tabuk: everything has to reach Qatar before six months have passed since you arrived, it must be second-hand and sized to a household, and you must not sell or dispose of them for a year from entry. New appliances and personal cars are outside the exemption. Since the Tabuk road trip alone takes about a week, don’t leave the shipment to the end of the window. Details in Qatar used household goods customs.
Cartons and goods from Tabuk to Qatar
Small consignments share a truck at these opening prices: one box (30 kg max) from SAR 120, a travel case from SAR 138, a twenty-kilo parcel from SAR 148, and loose goods by weight from SAR 7.5 a kilo. Traders pay from SAR 370 a tonne for part loads by road, from SAR 2,300 to hire a whole truck, and from SAR 11,500 for a full 13.6-metre trailer.
Saudi-origin goods normally need a GCC certificate of origin to be treated as a national product within the GCC customs union; foreign goods already duty-paid in Saudi Arabia go through the GCC clearing mechanism so duty isn’t charged twice; and duty of 5% is the norm for non-Gulf goods. Fresh farm produce needs refrigerated transport priced by quantity. See cartons and parcels shipping to Qatar and goods shipping from Saudi Arabia to Qatar.
Work out the cost of your Tabuk to Qatar shipment
Tell us roughly how much you have, where in Tabuk it is and which Qatari town it’s going to, with a few photos, and we’ll recommend the most economical option with a price and date.
Documents required for shipping from Tabuk to Qatar
Our team enters the export declaration on Fasah while the truck is still on the road, well before Salwa; clearance fees start from SAR 138. On the Qatari side, the person receiving the goods must authorise a broker on the Al Nadeeb portal, normally using a local phone number registered to their Qatar ID, so sort that out days before the truck leaves Tabuk.
What can’t be shipped from Tabuk to Qatar?
- Prohibited: firearms and ammunition; narcotics, khat included; alcohol; pork in any form; vapes and heated-tobacco kits; snuff and chewing tobacco; worn tyres; asbestos; radioactive material; fakes; signal jammers
- Restricted: prescription medicines for personal use; pets, with a permit; foodstuffs, with health certificates; drones and radio gear, once approved; and cash or valuables from QAR 50,000, which must be declared
That covers the main banned items. One doubtful box can hold up an entire truck at the border, so run anything questionable past us while you are still packing.

Delivery in Umm Salal, Doha and northern Qatar
A large share of Tabuk family shipments goes to standalone houses north of Doha, in Umm Salal, Al Daayen and Al Khor, where gates are wide and unloading is easier than in towers. We distribute from Doha to every Qatari city, and distant towns usually add a day to the Doha time.

Note: times are estimates based on distance, method and complete paperwork.
Cutting the cost of a Tabuk to Qatar move
- Shared freight for small loads: below about 11 cubic metres, the shared per-metre price beats booking a whole dyna
- Fewer heavy pieces: over 1,900 km every cubic metre weighs more on the bill, so let go of what you don’t need
- Cartons instead of air: send clothes and books by road and keep air for what can’t wait
- Flexible dates: accept a day or two extra and we can put your load on a full truck
- Complete papers from the start: avoid a truck waiting at the border, because waiting costs money
Costly mistakes on Tabuk shipments
- Leaving the dedicated-truck decision to the last minute and finding no space on the date you need.
- Shipping a car without checking Qatar’s age rules, when the long distance makes bringing it back expensive.
- Wrapping electronics in a single layer for a trip through both cold and heat.
- Leaving broker registration on Al Nadeeb until the truck reaches the border.
- Sending household goods near the end of the six-month window, even though the Tabuk trip alone takes about a week.
- Putting new appliances inside cartons labelled “used items”.
