Gulf International Shipping operates as a shipping company from Madinah to Qatar with a door-to-door service: we load household furniture, cartons, dates and cars from Madinah’s districts and governorates into closed trucks that run east via Qassim, Riyadh and Hofuf to the Saudi exit at Salwa, cross into Qatar at Abu Samra and deliver in Doha, Al Rayyan, Al Wakrah and Lusail. The usual road time is 4 to 6 days, while air freight from Madinah airport to Doha arrives within 24–48 hours.

Shared freight for furniture runs from SAR 555 a cubic metre, bedroom sets and part loads from SAR 2,030, and a jumbo dyna carrying a 3–4-room flat from SAR 6,000. Which road does a Madinah shipment take to Doha?
Madinah lies in the west of Saudi Arabia and Qatar sits at its far eastern edge, and the two countries meet at a single road border: Salwa, in the Al-Udaid district of the Eastern Province. So a Madinah shipment crosses the Arabian Peninsula from side to side. The truck heads east on the Qassim road, drops down to Riyadh, continues through Khurais to Hofuf in Al-Ahsa, and then on to Salwa. That route is about 1,470 km to Doha, and it is the one heavy trucks use because most of it is dual-carriageway expressway.
After Salwa the truck crosses into Abu Samra on the Qatari side, leaving only about 90 km to Doha. The border never closes, yet how long a truck spends there depends on complete customs data on both sides, which is why the data is filed before the truck arrives.

Transit times from Madinah to Qatari cities
We estimate road time from Madinah to Doha at 4 to 6 days, roughly a day longer than Makkah or Jeddah loads because the route runs through Qassim before Riyadh. A dedicated truck lands near the low end because it leaves straight after loading; a shared load lands nearer the top because it waits for the truck to fill. Qatari towns far from Doha add about a day.
Note: door-to-door times are approximate and include collection, clearance at both crossings and distribution.
Approximate shipping prices from Madinah to Qatar
Not one competitor page publishes prices for the Madinah to Qatar lane. Our rule at Gulf International Shipping in that case is to take the prices of the nearest city with published rates to the same destination, which is Jeddah about 420 km away, and set our starting price 5–10% below the lowest published figure. Whatever Jeddah companies don’t publish we took from published Riyadh prices, so there are no estimated numbers in the tables.
Table one shows a price band per type of consignment, opening with our own starting rate and closing with the highest figure competitors usually publish. The second table breaks the items down with a “from” price.
Note: trucks from Madinah normally need 4–6 days to reach Qatar, depending on the destination town and border clearance, while air parcels land within 24–48 hours.

Air freight from Madinah to Qatar
The Madinah lane has the advantage of an international airport close to home. flynas operates direct flights from Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Madinah to Doha, so an air parcel usually does not need to be trucked to Jeddah or Riyadh first. When the direct flight lacks suitable space, we route the shipment through another airport depending on size and timing, and tell you before booking.
An air parcel from Madinah normally reaches the recipient in Qatar within 24–48 hours once the documents are complete. Express air parcels from Madinah are priced from SAR 41 per kilo; one appliance from SAR 555; furniture or general cargo from SAR 1,110 per m³. Billing uses whichever is greater, scale weight or volumetric weight, where volumetric weight comes from length, width and height in cm, multiplied and then divided by 5,000.
When do we suggest air? When a family needs particular items in its first week in Doha, for documents and small valuable devices, or when a trader is tied to a delivery date. For a whole household, road freight is far cheaper. Details of every Saudi airport linked to Doha are in air freight from Saudi Arabia to Qatar.
Getting your Madinah home ready before loading day
Most shipment delays start at home, not on the road: unsealed cartons, appliances still plugged in, paperwork not ready. So we send Madinah customers a preparation checklist a few days ahead and follow it up with them on WhatsApp. In homes with large courtyards, which are common in Madinah’s districts, we use the courtyard as space to arrange cartons and wrap appliances before they go into the truck.

- 1A week before: sort your belongings, decide what to sell or leave, and start packing books and out-of-season clothes into cartons.
- 2Three days before: write a list of every carton with its number and general contents; it becomes the luggage declaration for Qatari customs.
- 3The day before: unplug, clean and leave the fridge open to dry, drain the washing machine, and bag remote controls and cables with labels.
- 4Loading day: keep a first-days bag with you: official papers, medicines, jewellery and device chargers.
Where do we collect in Madinah?
Moving household furniture from Madinah to Qatar
The furniture’s journey from Madinah to Qatar is close to 1,470 km and passes through very different air, from Madinah’s dry climate to the humidity of the eastern coast. For that reason our crew wraps wooden pieces in blankets with cardboard corner guards, sofas in two layers, and rugs rolled rather than folded. Mirrors, paintings and glass go into padded wooden crates, and large TVs into dedicated boxes.
We dismantle beds, wardrobes and big tables, number them, photograph every piece before loading, and reassemble at your new home in Qatar if you ask. A load smaller than a truck travels shared, priced from SAR 555 a cubic metre; a whole apartment is better suited to a jumbo dyna from SAR 6,000. More in furniture moving from Saudi Arabia to Qatar.
Is a Madinah household exempt from Qatari customs?
Yes, with conditions. The official page of Qatar’s General Authority of Customs lets a non-Qatari starting their first job in Qatar bring in personal belongings, used furniture and used home appliances free of duty. You need a letter from your employer stating the job and your nationality, the residence permit with an ID copy and the employer’s name, and a declaration of your belongings stamped by customs, of which you keep a copy.
Everything must be second-hand and in quantities that suit a household, not stock for sale; it has to land within your first six months in Qatar; and selling or giving it away within the first year makes duties and fines payable. New tools and appliances are not exempt, and neither is a personal car. Returning Qatari citizens are also exempt on their used belongings if they meet the criteria. We explain each condition in Qatar used household goods customs.
Shipping Madinah dates and food to Qatar
Dates are among the things most often shipped from Madinah to Qatar, whether as family gifts by the carton or commercial loads for shops in Doha. Ajwa, Anbara, Safawi, Mabroom and Rothana are all varieties that residents and citizens in Qatar ask for. Packed family quantities travel with the cartons in a shared truck, from SAR 120 per carton.
Commercial shipments need more: an invoice, a GCC origin certificate, which lets Saudi dates enter Qatar on the same footing as local produce, and a health certificate where required. Fresh dates and sensitive foods usually move by refrigerated transport arranged according to quantity and priced by weight and required temperature. Traders will find more in goods shipping from Saudi Arabia to Qatar.

Car shipping from Madinah to Qatar
A car goes from Madinah to Qatar on an open carrier or an enclosed hydraulic carrier. Open-carrier prices begin at SAR 2,030 for sedans, SAR 2,590 for SUVs and SAR 3,230 for sports cars and EVs; enclosed carriers cost more, from SAR 3,880 for a sedan through SAR 4,600 for an SUV up to SAR 5,540 for sports models and EVs. Given the distance, we recommend an enclosed carrier for luxury and new cars.
What does Qatar require to accept your car?
- Age: light vehicles beyond five years from their model year are normally turned away; classics over 35 years are one of the exceptions
- Condition: steering conversions from right-hand drive are not accepted, nor are cars with flood, fire or crash damage to the structure
- Duty: customs takes 5% of what the car is worth, with no VAT added; cars sit outside the used-furniture relief
- After entry: short-term insurance bought at the border, then two weeks (14 days) to pass inspection and register with Qatari traffic
Export paperwork for a car from Madinah
Exporting a car for good means swapping its Saudi plates for export plates with a certificate from traffic, having a current periodic inspection, settling every fine, and handing over the istimara, the owner’s identity papers and an online authorisation that names us as carrier. If a bank still finances the car, get its written consent first. For a temporary visit, a triptyque with a valid registration is enough. All of it is covered in car shipping from Saudi Arabia to Qatar.
Cartons, suitcases and small goods from Madinah
For students, workers and families sending odd items to Qatar, shared freight by the carton fits best: SAR 120 upwards per carton of up to 30 kg, SAR 138 upwards per suitcase, SAR 148 upwards for a parcel weighing 20 kg, and odds and ends charged by weight from SAR 7.5 per kilo. For traders whose goods don’t fill a truck, a part load starts from SAR 370 per tonne, and whole truck hire from SAR 2,300.
Before sealing, write the recipient’s name, Qatari number and city on the carton, and put the list both inside and outside. Never pack cash, jewellery or original documents in cartons. The full packing guide is in cartons and parcels shipping to Qatar.

Documents required for shipping from Madinah to Qatar
Gulf International Shipping files the data on the Fasah platform on the Saudi side before the truck reaches Salwa. In Qatar the consignee authorises a customs broker through the e-customs portal (Al Nadeeb), usually with a Qatari mobile number registered to the Qatar ID, so make sure that step is done before the truck leaves Madinah. Our customs clearance starts from SAR 138.
Prohibited and restricted items from Madinah to Qatar
Qatari customs prohibit weapons and ammunition, narcotics including khat, alcoholic drinks, pork products, ivory and endangered-wildlife products, chewing tobacco and snuff, asbestos, used tyres, e-cigarettes and e-shisha, counterfeit goods and currency, and material offensive to public morals.
Other items can travel only with paperwork: prescription personal medicines, pets with an import permit, food with health certificates, and drones and wireless equipment with prior approval. These are the main prohibited items, and we review any special case with you before packing.

Delivery in Doha’s old and new neighbourhoods
Delivery addresses in Doha range from modern towers in West Bay and The Pearl to villas in Al Rayyan and Al Dafna and heritage-style quarters with narrow service lanes in the centre, such as Bin Mahmoud and Old Airport. In towers we book the lift with management in advance; in narrow lanes we use hand trolleys to move cartons and pieces from the truck to the door.

Outside Doha we cover Al Rayyan, Al Wakrah, Al Wukair, Lusail, Mesaieed, Al Khor, Al Thakhira, Umm Salal, Al Daayen, Al Shahaniya, Dukhan, Al Shamal, Jeryan Al Samar and Birkat Al Awamer. Send us the delivery location and the recipient’s Qatari number when you book so the driver can call before arriving.
What goes into the price of a Madinah to Qatar shipment?
Our price is made up of volume or weight, transport mode and extra services. Volume in cubic metres applies to furniture and cartons; weight is used for parcels and dense goods. The mode moves the price more than anything else: a cubic metre by road starts from SAR 555, and by air from SAR 1,110. Then come the services: dismantling and assembly, wooden crates for glass, insurance and clearance.
Example: a small family in Al Aziziyah ships a bedroom set, sofas, a TV, a fridge and 10 cartons, about 6 cubic metres. In a shared truck the price starts at about 6 × 555 = SAR 3,330, plus clearance from SAR 138. If the family also needs 5 cartons in Doha within two days, those fly separately at the express-parcel rate.
Ways to pay less for your Madinah shipment
- Go shared: a shared load is much cheaper than a dedicated truck if you can accept an extra day
- Sort first: freighting a bulky old wardrobe 1,470 km may cost more than buying a new one in Doha
- Road, not air: keep air for urgent items and send the rest by carton on the road
- Book early: booking two weeks ahead lets us put your load on the next truck heading to Qatar
- Complete papers: missing papers mean waiting at the border and possibly duties you could have avoided
Mistakes people make when shipping from Madinah to Qatar
- Putting off the household shipment until six months have passed since entering Qatar, so the exemption is lost.
- Shipping commercial dates without a certificate of origin, so they are held at the border or charged duty.
- Choosing the cheapest price without asking about packing, then receiving scratched furniture after a 1,470 km trip.
- Shipping a car that doesn’t meet Qatar’s age rules.
- Not having a Qatari mobile number for the recipient, which blocks the broker’s authorisation on Al Nadeeb.
- Listing new appliances among used goods as if they were used.
We also ship the other way, from Doha and other Qatari cities to Madinah, for anyone finishing work in Qatar and returning with their belongings.
