Gulf International Shipping arranges air freight from Saudi Arabia to Jordan, from the airports of Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam, Madinah and Tabuk to Queen Alia International Airport near Amman, with arrival within 24 to 48 hours of handover at the airport. Air freight is priced on actual or volumetric weight, whichever is higher, so we quote once we know the weight and dimensions. The land alternative starts from SAR 140 per carton, and from SAR 1,100 to ship a sedan.
Air is the fastest choice for documents, personal medicines, spare parts, trade samples and online-store orders, while land freight remains the right fit for furniture, cars and large volumes. Send your parcel details on WhatsApp at 0568829975.

When is air freight to Jordan the right choice?
The first question Gulf International Shipping asks every customer is not “how heavy is it?” but “when does it need to arrive?”. If the answer is within two days and the shipment is small, fly it. If you have a week, land freight will save you most of the cost, because the road from any Saudi city to Jordan usually takes just 3 to 5 working days.
Documents and official papers
Certificates, contracts, passports and urgent paperwork.
Personal medicines
In sensible quantities, with the prescription.
Urgent spare parts
A part for idle equipment or a car waiting to be repaired.
Trade samples
Samples for a client or an exhibition ahead of the main shipment.
Online-store orders
Small parcels for customers in Amman and other Jordanian cities.
Essential personal items
A forgotten bag or belongings a traveller needs quickly.
On the other hand, we do not recommend air for furniture, large appliances or anything beyond a few dozen kilos, because volumetric weight drives the cost up fast. Cars are not normally flown either; they travel on road carriers through the land crossings, as explained in car shipping from Saudi Arabia to Jordan.
Which Saudi airports do we fly to Jordan from?
Gulf International Shipping collects the parcel from your home or office and hands it to the cargo terminal at the airport that best serves your city. The major airports have more flights to Amman, so a shipment from a smaller city may be routed through one of them when that is quicker.

What is the price per kilo for air freight to Jordan?
There is no fixed per-kilo rate for air freight to Jordan, and no single figure is published across the market, because the price changes with the departure airport, parcel size, contents and space available on flights. So Gulf International Shipping quotes once it knows three things: the actual weight, the dimensions and the destination city in Jordan. Send them on WhatsApp and you will have a quote shortly.
What is volumetric weight, and why does it matter?
Airlines sell space as well as weight. A large, light parcel takes up room in the hold as if it were heavy, so it is given a “volumetric weight” using the formula most airlines apply: length × width × height in centimetres ÷ 6,000. You then pay on whichever is greater, the actual or the volumetric weight.
A worked example
Approximate shipping prices from Saudi Arabia to Jordan (air and land)
Since choosing between air and land is a comparison, here are Gulf International Shipping’s starting land prices alongside the air row:
Note: air freight arrives within 24 to 48 hours of airport handover, and land freight takes 3 to 5 working days depending on the city and clearance. The land prices above apply from Riyadh and nearby cities; for Tabuk and Madinah prices, see shipping prices from Saudi Arabia to Jordan.
How long does air freight from Saudi Arabia to Jordan take?
The flight itself between Saudi airports and Amman is short, but air freight time includes stages before and after the flight. That is why we say a shipment arrives within 24 to 48 hours of handover at the airport, with a few extra hours possible for collection from your door and delivery inside Jordan.
- 1Collection and packing
We collect from your door, check weight, dimensions and contents, and re-pack if needed. - 2Airport acceptance
The shipment is lodged at the cargo terminal, the air waybill is issued and security screening is done. - 3The flight
It is loaded on the most suitable available flight to Queen Alia Airport. - 4Clearance in Amman

The receiver collects from the airport, or it is delivered to their address in Amman or another city.

Air or land freight to Jordan? A quick comparison
The rule of thumb at Gulf International Shipping: if the shipment is a few kilos and you need it within two days, fly it; if it is several cartons or furniture, go by land. Anywhere in between, send us the details and we will price both side by side. See also land freight from Saudi Arabia to Jordan.
What can’t you send by air to Jordan?
Aviation rules on dangerous goods are stricter than road rules, so some things that travel fine on a truck are refused on a plane. The main prohibited or restricted items are:
- Loose lithium batteries and power banks: subject to dangerous-goods requirements, and may be refused unless fitted inside the device.
- Perfumes, aerosols and spray deodorants: flammable or pressurised, so they need special approval or should go by land.
- Gas cylinders and flammable liquids: not allowed in ordinary parcels.
- Weapons, ammunition, explosives and narcotics: strictly prohibited.
- Cash and valuable jewellery: should not be packed in parcels.
- Plants, seeds and unpackaged food: need permits or will be refused.
- Counterfeit goods: banned in both countries.
Before you seal the carton
Jordanian customs on air shipments
Air shipments clear Jordanian customs at the cargo terminal of Queen Alia Airport. Used personal items in reasonable quantities are usually handled more simply than commercial goods, while new and commercial goods need an invoice and may attract customs duty and sales tax of up to 16%, depending on usual practice and the type of goods. The furniture exemption for returning expatriates covers furniture and household effects, which normally travel by land; details are in Jordan’s expat furniture exemption rules.
Documents needed for air freight to Jordan

How should you pack a parcel for air freight?
- Use a new carton close in size to the contents, as empty space raises the volumetric weight for nothing.
- Fill gaps with paper or bubble wrap so items cannot move.
- Seal with wide tape in an H pattern on the top and bottom.
- Write the receiver’s name, Jordanian number and city clearly, and put a copy inside the carton.
- Bag any permitted liquids securely and keep them away from documents.
- Photograph the contents before sealing, for reference if needed.
Delivery inside Jordan after the flight
After clearance at Queen Alia Airport, the receiver can collect the shipment from the airport, or we can arrange delivery to their address. Amman is the closest city to the airport, followed by Zarqa, Madaba and Salt, while Irbid, Mafraq and Aqaba add the time of onward road delivery. Tell us the city when you ask for a quote and we will include delivery in it.
Air freight for traders and online stores shipping to Jordan
Saudi online stores selling to customers in Jordan need fast delivery above all, because the customer expects the order within a few days. Here Gulf International Shipping consolidates the store’s parcels into one shipment, which lowers the volumetric weight per parcel compared with sending each order on its own, and then distributes them inside Jordan after clearance. The same applies to companies sending samples before a contract, or spare parts for idle equipment, where the cost of delay far outweighs the price gap between air and land.
Our advice to traders: attach a clear commercial invoice showing the value of each item, standardise carton sizes, and separate products containing batteries or perfume so they are handled under their own rules. As monthly volumes grow, compare air with consolidated land freight by the pallet, which starts from SAR 555; a mixed plan often works best, with air for urgent orders and land for stock. Furniture and cars: why we send them by land
Furniture is bulky, and volumetric weight makes flying it very expensive compared with a truck that carries a whole bedroom from SAR 1,100. Cars travel on road carriers through the Al Haditha crossing for Riyadh and Eastern Province loads, or Halat Ammar for Tabuk and the west, with sedans from SAR 1,100. That is why Gulf International Shipping recommends air only for small urgent items and handles everything else door to door by land. - A carton bigger than its contents: you pay for air because of volumetric weight.
- Undeclared perfume or power banks in the parcel: a common reason for refusal.
- Flying furniture: it costs several times more than land with little real benefit.
- Incomplete receiver details: the shipment gets held at the airport.
- No invoice for new goods: it slows customs clearance.
