Gulf International Shipping runs land freight from Jeddah to Jordan in closed trucks that head north through Madinah and Tabuk to the Halat Ammar crossing and on to Al-Mudawwara border centre on the Jordanian side. The road is about 1,500 km long, and a door-to-door delivery to Amman, Irbid or Zarqa usually takes 3 to 6 working days. A pallet in a shared load starts from SAR 555, a full 6-metre dyna from SAR 3,250, a 15-metre trailer from SAR 6,000, and a sedan on a shared car carrier from SAR 1,100.
This page is written for traders, factories, online sellers and anyone moving a car or stock out of Jeddah. It covers the route leg by leg, transit times, prices, paperwork, and how trucking compares with sea freight through Aqaba and air freight into Queen Alia Airport.

How does a truck travel from Jeddah to Jordan?
Jeddah sits on the Kingdom’s west coast and Jordan lies to the north-west, so drivers take the expressway north to Madinah, continue to Tabuk and then reach the Halat Ammar crossing. That makes the Jeddah run quite different from the Riyadh and Dammam routes, which normally leave the Kingdom through Al-Haditha in Qurayyat governorate.
At Halat Ammar, Gulf International Shipping completes the Saudi export formalities. The truck then crosses to Al-Mudawwara for Jordanian import clearance and continues along the Desert Highway via Ma’an to Amman, where shared loads are sorted and sent on to the other governorates.

Why Halat Ammar rather than Al-Haditha for most Jeddah loads?
Many websites treat the two crossings as one place under two names. They are not. Al-Haditha is in Qurayyat governorate in the Al-Jouf region and faces Jordan’s Al-Omari border centre, while Halat Ammar is in the Tabuk region on the old Levant pilgrimage road and is the natural exit for traffic from the Hejaz. A shared truck may still go via Al-Haditha if it is collecting freight from other cities, and we confirm the crossing for your load when you book.
Note: times are indicative. Shared loads also wait for the truck to fill, and any customs delay on either side adds to the total.
How long does land freight from Jeddah to Jordan take?
A dedicated truck is usually faster than a shared one because it leaves as soon as it is loaded. With groupage, consolidation time comes first, so we give you the expected departure day at booking and then update you when the truck leaves Jeddah, reaches the border and clears it.
Approximate shipping prices from Jeddah to Jordan
Gulf International Shipping prices from Jeddah to Jordan start from SAR 140 per carton, SAR 555 per pallet in a shared load and SAR 1,100 for a sedan. In the table, the lower figure is where our pricing begins and the higher one is where the item typically lands for bigger volumes or harder access.
Note: land freight from Jeddah usually takes 3 to 6 working days depending on the Jordanian city and customs clearance; air freight takes 24 to 48 hours.
Other items Jeddah customers ask about
Shipping commercial goods from Jeddah to Jordan: full or shared load?
With a full truckload (FTL) the whole truck is yours. It loads at your Jeddah warehouse and unloads at the consignee’s premises in Jordan with no transfer in between. This suits anyone who can fill a 6-metre dyna or a 15-metre trailer, anyone with sensitive stock that should not travel next to other cargo, and anyone who needs a firm arrival day.
With a shared load (LTL) you pay only for the space your pallets take, and we combine them with other customers’ freight bound for Jordan. It works well for a shop sending ten pallets a month, an online store restocking a warehouse in Amman, or a supplier sending trade samples. It costs far less than booking a whole truck; the trade-off is an extra day or two for consolidation and sorting.

When does a full truck beat paying per pallet?
A worked example: 4 pallets in a shared load start from 4 × SAR 555 = SAR 2,220, which is less than a full dyna from SAR 3,250. At 7 pallets the shared figure starts from SAR 3,885, and the full dyna becomes both cheaper and faster. That is why we ask for your pallet count and rough weight before quoting, and we recommend whichever option costs you less.
Goods we often move out of Jeddah
- Showroom stock, new furniture and soft furnishings.
- Clothing, fabrics and footwear in numbered cartons.
- Car spare parts, tyres and sealed non-hazardous oils.
- Dates, coffee and packaged dry food, with their certificates.
- Household goods and factory-sealed electronics.
- Factory supplies and light equipment; heavy machinery after a weight and dimension check.
Goods that need temperature control or special approvals, such as some foods and medicines, are assessed first: we confirm whether we can carry them and at what price once we know the product, weight and the requirements of the relevant Jordanian authority. Nothing of this kind is loaded until its paperwork is complete.
Sea freight from Jeddah port to Aqaba: when is it the better choice?
Because Jeddah is a port city, traders often ask about shipping by sea. The voyage from Jeddah Islamic Port to Aqaba takes 7 to 12 days, and cargo bound for Amman or Irbid then needs onward trucking inside Jordan. In most cases that makes sea slower than road.
Sea makes sense for a full container of very heavy goods, or for cargo whose destination is Aqaba itself. For furniture, cars and medium pallet loads, a closed truck is quicker and simpler because it runs door to door with no port handling.
Car shipping from Jeddah to Jordan by road
Gulf International Shipping moves cars from Jeddah to Jordan in three ways: an open shared carrier from SAR 1,100 for a sedan, a private flatbed for a single vehicle from SAR 2,050 for an SUV, and an enclosed carrier for luxury cars, priced by model. Each car is strapped at the wheels and, on the carriers designed for it, wrapped in a protective cover.

Jordan’s car import rules to check before you ship
- Electric vehicles: EVs older than 3 years, counting the clearance year, cannot be imported under the rules currently in force in Jordan.
- Salvage cars: vehicles classed as total loss in their country of origin because of fire, flood or crash damage are refused.
- Specifications: the car must meet Jordanian specifications, which accept Gulf, Saudi, European and US standards.
- Petrol and hybrid cars: the published rules state no age limit for them, but fees differ by engine type and value.
To export from Saudi Arabia you need the original registration card (istimara), plate cancellation or export plates, an export certificate, cleared traffic fines, and the sender’s ID with the recipient’s passport. If the car is entering Jordan only temporarily, a customs carnet (triptyque) is required along with the licence and registration. The full guide is in car shipping from Saudi Arabia to Jordan.
Air freight from Jeddah to Amman
When a shipment cannot spend days on the road, Gulf International Shipping flies it from King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah to Queen Alia International Airport in Amman within 24 to 48 hours. Air suits spare parts that are holding up a production line, trade samples, original documents and light, high-value parcels.
Air freight is charged on actual or volumetric weight, whichever is higher, so we do not publish a flat rate: send the weight and dimensions on WhatsApp 0568829975 and you will get your quote. Dangerous goods, loose batteries and flammable liquids are not accepted by air. More detail in air freight from Saudi Arabia to Jordan.
Sending cartons and personal items on the truck
If you only have a few cartons or bags, there is no need to book a large space. Cartons ride on the shared truck from SAR 140 each, or by weight from SAR 9 per kg. Write the consignee’s name and Jordanian phone number on every carton and list the contents on the packing list. See also cartons and parcels shipping to Jordan.
Documents needed to ship goods and cars from Jeddah
Some products, such as food, medicines, cosmetics, seeds and plants, need approval from the relevant Jordanian authority before shipping. The full checklist is in documents required for shipping to Jordan.
Jordanian customs: what is paid on arrival?
Duty on commercial goods depends on the tariff heading and the invoice value, and Jordan’s 16% general sales tax is added to goods that are not exempt. Accurate invoicing therefore has a direct effect on what you pay: an invoice that looks unrealistically low can trigger a revaluation and hold the shipment.
Household furniture belonging to Jordanians returning after a year or more abroad falls under a separate exemption with specific conditions, explained in the Jordan expat furniture exemption.
A word to traders
Do not split one invoice across several names to lower duties, and never put undeclared goods on the truck. Any mismatch between the manifest and the cargo stops the whole truck at Al-Mudawwara, including other customers’ freight in a shared load.
Prohibited and restricted items on the road to Jordan
- Firearms, ammunition and weapon parts, as well as explosives and fireworks.
- Narcotics and psychotropic substances of any kind.
- Flammable liquids and materials, and filled pressurised gas cylinders.
- Counterfeit goods or anything infringing trademarks.
- Plants, seeds, herbs and soil without a permit from Jordan’s Ministry of Agriculture.
- Medicines in commercial quantities and cosmetics without the relevant approval.
- Anything Saudi rules bar from export or Jordanian rules bar from import.
Tip
Air conditioners and fridges travel after the refrigerant is recovered or confirmed sealed, and generators and machinery must be fully drained of fuel before loading.

- Delivery city: Amman differs from remote areas or hard-to-reach districts.

The cheapest way to truck goods from Jeddah to Jordan
For small and medium volumes, a shared load is the cheapest option, with pallets from SAR 555. To cut the cost further, consolidate your goods onto as few well-stacked pallets as possible, avoid half-empty cartons that take space for nothing, book early ahead of peak seasons, and have your paperwork complete so you never pay waiting charges at the border.
Common mistakes when shipping from Jeddah to Jordan
- Quoting a guessed weight far from reality, so the price changes on loading day.
- Sending food or medicines without confirming the Jordanian authority’s approval.
- Shipping an electric car without checking its age against Jordan’s rules.
- Leaving the consignee’s name and Jordanian number off the cartons.
- Choosing sea for a small Amman-bound load to save money, then paying for inland trucking on top.
