Why does shipping from Madinah to Jordan go via Tabuk?
Madinah has no crossing of its own on the Jordanian border. Its nearest gateway is Halat Ammar in the Tabuk region, the third land crossing between the two countries after Al Haditha and Al Durra. So Gulf International Shipping trucks take the northern road from Madinah to Tabuk, carry on to Halat Ammar, cross to Jordan’s Mudawwara border centre, and continue to Ma’an and then Amman. This is the same corridor as the old Levantine Hajj route that linked Madinah with Greater Syria for centuries.
Some websites say Madinah loads leave through Al Haditha, treating it and Halat Ammar as one crossing. In fact Al Haditha is in Qurayyat governorate in the Al Jouf region, faces Jordan’s Al Omari centre, and suits cargo from Riyadh and the Eastern Province. From Madinah, the Tabuk road is normally the shorter option. We may route a truck through Al Haditha when a consolidated load includes cargo from other cities, and we tell you before loading.

How long does shipping from Madinah to Jordan take?
Land freight from Madinah to Amman takes 3 to 6 working days with Gulf International Shipping, and the gap between the two figures comes down to the type of load. A private truck leaves as soon as it is loaded, while a shared load waits until enough cargo bound for Jordan is collected. Air freight is far quicker, at 24 to 48 hours, but only suits light parcels.
Your shipment day by day (a typical private load)
This timeline is approximate. Actual timing is affected by congestion at the crossing during Umrah and holiday seasons, and by how complete the paperwork is. Our advice: have the packing list ready before loading day, and make sure the receiver’s Jordanian number is reachable.
Approximate shipping prices from Madinah to Jordan
Shipping companies do not publish prices for the Madinah to Jordan route specifically, so Gulf International Shipping bases its rates on the nearest city on the same road that does have published prices, which is Tabuk, and sets its own prices below them. The first figure in each row is our “from” price.
Note: land freight from Madinah usually takes 3 to 6 working days depending on the Jordanian city and clearance, and air freight 24 to 48 hours. Packing a whole home on its own starts from SAR 690.
Air freight, palletised commercial cargo and luxury cars on an enclosed carrier are priced on the details. Send us what you want to ship and we will give you a clear price, or use our quote request form. To compare all cities, see shipping prices from Saudi Arabia to Jordan.
What pushes the price up or down?
- Collection point: central Madinah costs differently from Yanbu, AlUla or Khaybar, because the truck covers extra distance.
- Volume: the larger the load, the lower the cost per piece, especially with a private truck.
- Jordanian city: Amman and Zarqa are closer along the route; Irbid, Ramtha and Mafraq are further north.
- Extra services: dismantling, assembly and wooden crating for ornaments and glass.
- Customs status: exempt expatriate furniture pays no duty, while non-exempt goods may attract duty and 16% sales tax, according to usual practice.

Moving furniture from Madinah to Jordan
Over a distance this long, packing is what separates furniture that arrives intact from furniture that arrives scratched. At Gulf International Shipping we wrap each piece in three layers: bubble wrap, then rigid card on the edges, then a moving blanket taped in place. We dismantle beds and wardrobes, bag and number the screws, and take drawers out of chests so nothing shifts on the road.
Loading follows its own rules: heavy items such as fridges and washers go at the bottom near the front of the box, then wardrobes and beds, then light cartons on top, with restraint straps between each row. That order protects your furniture on a road of more than a thousand kilometres.

How we pack each type of item for the long Madinah run
Air conditioners need a technician to recover the gas before shipping, as units holding compressed gas are restricted on the road and at the crossings. We can fit this into dismantling day if you ask in advance.
Madinah neighbourhoods and regional governorates we collect from
We reach every neighbourhood in Madinah, including Quba, Al Aziziyah, Al Uyun, Sultanah, Al Khalidiyah, Al Iskan, Shuran, Al Awali, Al Harrah Al Sharqiyah and Al Jamiah. We also collect from the governorates of the Madinah region: Yanbu on the coast, AlUla and Khaybar to the north, and Badr, Mahd adh Dhahab and Al Hinakiyah. Loads from the governorates can be gathered in Madinah and leave with the main truck, or be loaded straight onto a private truck.

Car shipping from Madinah to Jordan
A sedan on a shared carrier starts from SAR 1,100 and an SUV on a private flatbed from SAR 2,050, while luxury cars travel on an enclosed carrier priced on request. The car is driven onto the carrier and strapped at the wheels, and nothing may be left inside it. Timing follows the carrier’s schedule; a private flatbed is quicker because it does not wait for a full load.
Before shipping, check Jordan’s new import rules: electric vehicles more than 3 years old, counting the year of clearance, are banned, as are vehicles classed as salvage in their country of origin after fire, flood or a total loss. Jordan also requires cars to meet its specifications, which are aligned with Gulf and Saudi standards. On the Saudi side you need the original registration, plate surrender, an export certificate and settled fines; temporary entry needs a Triptyque carnet.

Shipping cartons, bags and dates from Madinah to Jordan
Shared freight is the most economical option for sending personal belongings or gifts to family in Jordan. Cartons weighing up to 20 kg are priced from SAR 65, and travel bags up to 30 kg from SAR 100. Many of our Madinah customers send dates and gifts; we recommend dates in sealed retail packaging from a known source, because food is subject to the requirements of the relevant Jordanian authorities, and we tell you what is needed before booking. Do not mix food and clothes in one carton, and write the receiver’s name, number and city on every box.

Air freight from Madinah to Amman
For urgent, light shipments such as official documents, personal medicines or a spare part needed quickly, we offer air freight to Queen Alia International Airport south of Amman within 24 to 48 hours. The price is based on actual or volumetric weight, whichever is higher, so we ask for the weight and the parcel’s dimensions and send a quote on WhatsApp. The shipment is booked on the most suitable available flight and may connect through a larger Saudi airport depending on the schedule.
Air is not suited to furniture or large volumes, since the cost climbs quickly with size. Details are in air freight from Saudi Arabia to Jordan and on the air freight service page.
Commercial cargo from Madinah to Jordan
We ship commercial cargo as a full truckload (FTL) on a dedicated truck, or as a part load (LTL) by the pallet on a shared truck. The shipment needs a commercial invoice, a certificate of origin, a packing list and the exporter’s commercial registration, and the importer in Jordan may need approvals depending on the goods. Pricing depends on weight, volume and pallet count, so send us the details and we will work out the cost. For invoices and pallet rules, read goods shipping from Saudi Arabia to Jordan.

The cheapest way to ship from Madinah to Jordan
For a small shipment, shared land freight is the cheapest, since you pay only for your space. For a whole home, compare shared freight with a private truck, which can be both cheaper and faster. To cut costs: sell or donate old furniture before shipping, dismantle large pieces, gather small items into uniform cartons and book before the peak season. And remember that used furniture exempt under the expatriate rules saves you Jordanian duty.
Mistakes many people make when shipping from Madinah
- Sending dates or home-made food without packaging: it may be refused or spoil on the way.
- Leaving out the receiver’s Jordanian number: it delays delivery on arrival.
- A vague packing list such as “household items”: customs want an itemised list.
- Shipping an older electric car: Jordan bans EVs over 3 years old.
- Assuming the shipment leaves via Al Haditha: Madinah’s natural route is through Halat Ammar.
