Cartons and Parcels Shipping to Lebanon

For cartons and parcels shipping to Lebanon, Gulf International Shipping charges from SAR 92 per small parcel (up to 5 kg), from SAR 184 per carton weighing up to 20 kg, from SAR 138 per document envelope and from SAR 32 per kilo by air. We collect your carton from home in any Saudi city and consolidate it with other Lebanon consignments on a truck that crosses Jordan, has its load transferred at Nassib and enters Lebanon through the Masnaa crossing. Door delivery anywhere from Beirut and the Bekaa to Mount Lebanon, the North and the South takes around 8–13 days when we collect in Tabuk and 11–17 days from Riyadh or Jeddah; by plane it is 3–5 days.

A carton to Lebanon is small in size and big in meaning: winter clothes for a student in Beirut, an Eid present for a mother in Tripoli, university papers that cannot wait, or a bride’s trousseau going ahead of her to the new home. This guide is for anyone who wants the price before sealing the tape, the timing before promising the family a date, a clear idea of what may go inside and what may not, and a way to pack the box so it arrives the way it left.

What does a carton to Lebanon cost?

The price of a carton to Lebanon depends on its weight and the Saudi city where we collect it. Gulf International Shipping charges SAR 184 upwards for any box of 20 kg or less and SAR 92 upwards for one of 5 kg or less; large or irregular loads, such as sacks and loose items, are priced by the kilo from SAR 11. The table below shows approximate prices. Read each range as our entry price followed by the typical top end; every entry price undercuts the rates other Lebanon carriers publish.

Note: consolidated road delivery to the Bekaa and Beirut takes around 8–13 days after a Tabuk collection, 10–15 after Madinah, 11–17 after Riyadh, Jeddah, Makkah or Taif and 12–17 after Dammam; the North and South need one or two extra days, and air parcels arrive in 3–5 days.

A few other items often travel with cartons: kitchenware and household goods from SAR 230, small home appliances from SAR 184, light but bulky goods from SAR 230 per cubic metre, and customs clearance from SAR 276. Cover is tied to the value you declare for the contents; just ask when you book.

Parcel prices by Saudi city

Carton prices are not the same everywhere. Cities closer to Lebanon cost less, and each city has published market rates that we price below. Here are the starting prices for the two items people ask for most:

Collection cityParcel up to 5 kgCarton up to 20 kgConsolidated road time (approx.)
TabukSAR 92SAR 1848–13 days
MadinahSAR 92SAR 18410–15 days
TaifSAR 92SAR 18411–17 days
JeddahSAR 110SAR 18411–17 days
MakkahSAR 110SAR 18411–17 days
RiyadhSAR 138SAR 365 (10–20 kg)11–17 days
Dammam and Eastern ProvinceSAR 276SAR 36512–17 days

From Riyadh a parcel between 5 and 10 kg starts from SAR 230. From Dammam, ten cartons of clothes start from SAR 550, a good option for families sending a whole season’s wardrobe in one go. For every item by city, see shipping prices from Saudi Arabia to Lebanon.

Consolidated road, dedicated truck or air?

There are three ways to send cartons to Lebanon, and the right one depends on urgency and how many boxes you have:

MethodTime (approx.)Best forStarts from
Consolidated road8–17 days by cityOne carton up to several dozen, no rushSAR 92 per parcel, SAR 11 per kg
Dedicated road5–12 days by cityLarge volumes filling much of a truck, or with furnitureby volume — ask for your quote
Air3–5 daysPapers, medicines, small devices and urgent itemsSAR 32 per kg

With consolidated road freight we gather Lebanon-bound cartons from different customers in our warehouse until the truck is full. That adds 3–5 days to the time of a dedicated truck, but it is far cheaper because the cost of the trip is shared. At booking we give you the date of the coming Lebanon departure.

How does a carton travel from Saudi Arabia to Beirut?

Once we collect your carton we weigh it and label it with a shipment number, and it goes into the Lebanon cage at our sorting warehouse alongside other customers’ boxes. Once the cage fills, the truck sets off for the Al-Haditha or Halat Ammar border and runs through Jordan under transit seal to Jaber. Because a Saudi truck cannot currently continue inside Syria, the cartons are unloaded in the Nassib yard and restacked on a truck cleared for the crossing, which exits at Jdeidet Yabous, presents them for inspection and clearance at Masnaa, and carries on to the receiver.

Lebanon parcel consolidation in Saudi Arabia
Parcels on the sorting belt are placed in the cage reserved for Lebanon consignments

That journey means a carton is lifted and set down several times, which makes the way it is packed as important as what is inside, as we explain below. For details of the crossing itself see the Masnaa border crossing to Lebanon.

Who sends cartons to Lebanon, and what do they send?

Students at Lebanese universities

A student in Beirut needs books, winter clothes and things for the room, and the family in the Kingdom wants to send them without overloading a suitcase. We collect the cartons from the family home and deliver to student housing or the student’s flat. Send books in small cartons: a big box full of books tears under its own weight.

Family parcels and gifts

Eid presents, dates, coffee, perfume and clothes for relatives make up most of what we carry to Lebanon. Dates and coffee sealed in their original packs in personal quantities are normally accepted, while cooked or unsealed food is not sent. Liquid perfumes are wrapped well and their number is written on the list.

A bride’s trousseau and things for a new home

When a bride’s belongings go ahead of the family to Lebanon, there are more cartons: bedding, dinner sets, kitchenware and clothes. We then price the load two ways, per carton and per kilo, and apply whichever is lower once we know the number and weight.

Small online sellers

If you sell Saudi products in Lebanon and send samples or small quantities, we ship them by consolidated road freight with a commercial invoice. Goods of Saudi origin may be exempt from Lebanese customs duty with a certificate of origin, while VAT still applies, as the customs section explains.

Shipping suitcases and luggage to Lebanon

Many travellers find their bags are over the airline allowance and send the excess separately. We treat a suitcase as a large carton: from SAR 550 up to 50 kg by consolidated road, or per kilo by air if the traveller needs it quickly. We wrap the case in heavy film over the lock so it cannot open, and ask you to put a contents list inside, because a locked case may be opened for inspection at Masnaa.

Sending documents and official papers to Lebanon

Certified diplomas, contracts, powers of attorney and school files: documents start from SAR 138 per envelope. We recommend air for papers with deadlines, since they arrive in 3–5 days instead of around two weeks by road. Papers go flat in a stiff envelope inside a waterproof sleeve, never folded. Always keep copies before sending.

Packing a carton to survive two trucks and a long road

A carton to Lebanon is lifted at our warehouse, onto the first truck, in the Nassib yard, onto the second truck and again at the receiver’s door. These are our rules for making it last:

  • Double-wall carton: avoid thin grocery boxes; we supply strong cartons at collection
  • No more than 20–25 kg: heavier boxes get dropped in handling or split at the bottom
  • Fill the gaps: a half-empty box collapses under others, so pad the space with clothes or paper
  • H-pattern taping: tape across every seam, top and bottom, not one strip down the middle
  • Heavy at the bottom, light on top: with glass and perfume in the middle, wrapped in clothing
  • A clear label: receiver’s name, Lebanese phone number and area in Arabic and English, on two sides of the box
  • An inside list: a sheet of contents in the box that matches the list you gave us

We can pack for you

If you are short of time or proper boxes, our team brings cartons, packs them and writes the labels when we collect from your home; packing materials are charged by quantity.

What can and cannot go in cartons to Lebanon?

A carton passes Saudi, Syrian and Lebanese customs, so we apply all three lists together. Most personal items are fine: clothes, shoes, books, kitchenware, toys, small used appliances, well-wrapped perfume, and dates and coffee sealed in personal quantities. The main items that are banned or need approval are:

  • Prohibited: gas lighters, old cordless phones, weapons, knives and swords, flammables and gas cylinders, and goods of Israeli origin
  • Needs approval: medicines in large amounts, food in commercial quantities and some wireless devices
  • May be inspected: electronic devices, and books or discs in large numbers
  • Not shipped in cartons: cash, gold and valuable jewellery, and cooked or perishable food

Medicines in a carton

If you send medicine to a relative, keep it in its original pack, one or two months’ supply, with a copy of the prescription in the patient’s name. Large quantities or unregistered medicines may be held.

Do parcels pay customs or VAT in Lebanon?

Personal parcels are inspected at Masnaa and duty is assessed according to the type and value of the contents, with 11% VAT added when duty is due. Family-sized lots of gifts and worn clothing rarely cause trouble; a box holding, say, twenty identical items looks like stock and is assessed as trade goods.

  • Products of Saudi origin: may be exempt from customs duty with a certificate of origin under the Greater Arab Free Trade Area, while 11% VAT still applies.
  • Belongings of a Lebanese returning for good: fall under the used household goods exemption and its conditions; details in Lebanon used household goods customs.
  • New appliances in their boxes: pay duty according to their tariff line.

We handle clearance at Masnaa as part of the service and tell you about any duty before delivery, so the receiver is not surprised at the door.

Papers needed to send a carton to Lebanon

  • The sender’s ID or iqama (a copy is enough).
  • The receiver’s full name as on the Lebanese ID, and a phone number.
  • The address in Lebanon: governorate, town, street and nearest landmark.
  • A list of what is in each carton with an approximate value, written with you at collection.
  • For commercial samples: an invoice, plus a certificate of origin if you want the duty exemption.

Delivery across Lebanon and timing by region

Delivery order follows the map: the Bekaa, right next to Masnaa, comes first, Beirut and Mount Lebanon next, the North and South after that. The times below are for consolidated road freight from Riyadh and Jeddah; they are shorter from Tabuk and Madinah:

Parcel delivery in Tripoli, Lebanon
A courier wheels a trolley of cartons through the stone arches of an old Tripoli souk towards the delivery truck

In old souks and narrow lanes, such as those of Tripoli and Sidon, the truck stops at the nearest point and the courier finishes on foot with a hand trolley. We call the receiver before arriving to make sure someone is home; if not, we agree another time rather than leaving the carton with neighbours.

Air freight for urgent parcels to Beirut

When a parcel cannot wait two weeks, air is the answer. Parcels fly into Beirut with Middle East Airlines from Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam or Madinah, a flight of roughly four hours on a timetable that can change. Pricing starts at SAR 32 a kilo, and the parcel is at the door 3–5 days later, depending on space on board and clearance. From Tabuk and Taif, air parcels go via Riyadh or Jeddah. Details in air freight from Saudi Arabia to Lebanon.

Actual and volumetric weight: how your carton is charged

Airlines mostly work out volumetric weight with a simple formula, length × width × height in centimetres ÷ 6,000, then bill whichever is higher, that figure or the scale weight. Example: a 50 × 50 × 40 cm carton that weighs 8 kg on the scale has a volumetric weight of about 17 kg, so air freight charges it as 17 kg, from SAR 544. By consolidated road the same carton falls into the “up to 20 kg” band from SAR 184. That is why light, bulky clothes and bedding are better value by road, while papers, medicines and small heavy devices suit air.

The cheapest way to send cartons to Lebanon

  • Go consolidated by road: it is the lowest-cost way to move boxes when time is not critical.
  • Use medium cartons: one carton up to 20 kg costs less than four small parcels.
  • Send from the nearest city: if you have a relative in Tabuk or Madinah, prices from there are lower.
  • Compress clothes: vacuum bags roughly halve the volume of clothes and bedding.
  • Share with relatives: two families sending to the same area share one collection and one delivery run, and we price the combined load the cheaper way.
  • Do not pay air rates for things that can wait: put the urgent items in a small air parcel and send the rest by road.

Mistakes that delay a carton on the way

  • An inactive receiver number: the most common cause of late final delivery in Lebanon.
  • Undeclared contents: a device or medicine missing from the list stops the carton for inspection.
  • Quantities that look commercial: ten bottles of the same perfume are treated as goods.
  • A weak or overweight box: it splits during the second loading at Nassib.
  • A vague address: “Beirut” alone is not enough; write the district, street and a landmark.
