Shipping from Jeddah to Lebanon

As a shipping company from Jeddah to Lebanon, Gulf International Shipping collects your furniture, cartons and goods from your door in any Jeddah district and moves them by road: a Saudi truck leaves the Kingdom at Halat Ammar, crosses Jordan in transit to the Jaber crossing, and in the Nassib customs yard our team supervises the transfer of your load onto a truck permitted to cross Syria, which continues to Jdeidet Yabous and enters Lebanon at the Masnaa crossing on its way to your address. By road it is roughly 1,700–1,800 km, and your goods typically reach Beirut or Zahle in 8–12 working days. Prices open at SAR 110 for a small parcel, SAR 460 for a washer, SAR 1,840 for a whole bedroom and SAR 4,140 for a car of 8 years or less.

Jeddah has a seaport and an international airport, so people here ask us a question others rarely do: should I ship by sea, by road or by air? The answer depends on what you are sending. Household furniture, cartons and cars travel by road because it is the quickest door-to-door option; full commercial containers may suit a vessel from Jeddah Islamic Port to the port of Beirut; and documents or urgent items fly on Middle East Airlines from King Abdulaziz Airport. This guide sets out all three with their figures, then covers prices, paperwork and what happens to your shipment at each stage.

Road, sea or air: which route suits your shipment from Jeddah to Lebanon?

Saudi Arabia has no land border with Lebanon, and neither does Jordan, so a truck has to pass through Jordan and then Syria. Even so, road is usually cheaper and quicker than sea for household moves. A sea container has to be filled in Jeddah, wait for a sailing, be unloaded and cleared at the port, and then be trucked to your home; a truck loads at your door and unloads at your door. The table below puts the difference in numbers:

ModeTypical door-to-door timeSuitsStarting price
Dedicated truck8–12 working days to Zahle or BeirutA flat or villa, a truckload of goodsSAR 5,520 for a 20 ft-equivalent truck
Shared road freight3–5 days more than a dedicated truckA few items, cartons, appliancesSAR 11 per kg or per-item rates
Air freight3–5 days, subject to flights and clearanceDocuments, prescribed medicines, urgent giftsSAR 32 per kg
Sea containerabout 15–25 daysFull commercial containersDepends on container and line; ask for a quote

Our rule of thumb for Jeddah customers is simple. If the load fills a room or more, road is the natural choice. If it weighs under 30 kg and you need it within days, air makes sense despite the higher rate per kilo. If you are a trader filling a whole container and time is not pressing, compare road and sea with us before you book. We recommend a mode because it gets your goods there with the fewest steps, not because it earns us more.

Approximate shipping prices from Jeddah to Lebanon

We reviewed the rates published by companies shipping from Jeddah to Lebanon and set our starting prices around 8% below them. Every cell shows two numbers: the Gulf International Shipping “from” price comes first, and the second is a typical ceiling when the volume grows or the Lebanese region lies further from Masnaa.

Per-item prices from Jeddah to Lebanon

Many Jeddah orders are single items rather than whole homes: a fridge for family in the Bekaa, a bed and wardrobe for a son who has settled in Beirut, or cartons of clothes and provisions before the holidays. That is why each item below has its own starting price, with road transport to your Lebanese address included:

These are starting prices, not final ones. The actual figure is set after we see your items or their photos: a single-door fridge is not a four-door one, and a glass table needs a wooden crate that a solid-wood table does not. The truck route from Jeddah to the Masnaa crossing

Our truck heads north from Jeddah on the Madinah road and then to Tabuk, the usual path for Hijaz shipments because it leads straight to the Halat Ammar border post. Some consolidated loads may be routed via Al-Haditha instead when the truck tops up with cargo from other cities. The stages in order:

  1. 1
    Collection in Jeddah
We load at your home or warehouse after wrapping and a photo inventory, register the export on Fasah and reserve the truck’s border appointment.
  2. 2
    Jeddah → Madinah → Tabuk
A long run north on the highway, with the truck locked and sealed from the moment it leaves you.
  3. 3
    Halat Ammar → Mudawwara
Exit from the Kingdom and entry into Jordan under transit procedures, so the load is not opened or unloaded in Jordan.
  4. 4
    Ma’an → Amman → Jaber
Across Jordan from south to north to Jaber, the Jordanian post facing Syria.
  5. 5
    Nassib customs yard
The Saudi truck stops here and your load is moved piece by piece onto a truck licensed to cross Syria, while our representative checks it against the inventory.
  6. 6
Nassib → Damascus → Jdeidet Yabous
Transit across Syria to the Syrian post facing Lebanon.
  7. 7
Masnaa → the Bekaa → your door
Entry into Lebanon and clearance at Masnaa customs, then onward delivery to your town wherever it lies.
Through Jordan from Jeddah to Lebanon
A truck heading north between the sandstone mountains of southern Jordan on its way from Jeddah to Lebanon

Why is the load transferred at Nassib? Under the rules currently in force, Saudi trucks do not cross Syrian territory, so their journey ends at the border and your goods continue on another truck. Many websites skip this point, yet it is the most important thing to know: every item will be lifted and set down one extra time. That is why we pack for a journey with two loadings rather than one, number and photograph each piece before closing, and have our representative present at the transfer so that no carton goes missing and nothing heavy is stacked on glass. For the full picture of this stage, read the Masnaa border crossing guide and the Nassib crossing explainer.

Border status

Masnaa is the recognised commercial crossing between Syria and Lebanon and opens daily for long hours. We check border status before every trip, arrange the crossing slot in advance and tell you about any delay as soon as it happens.

How long does shipping from Jeddah to Lebanon take?

Timing starts on the day the truck leaves Jeddah. The biggest variable is not distance; it is waiting at the borders and clearance time at Masnaa. Approximate times by Lebanese region:

Where in Lebanon?Sample destinationsPrivate truckShared truck
Bekaa plainChtaura and Zahle, Rashaya and West Bekaa, Baalbekfrom 8 to 12 working daysfrom 11 to 17 days
Beirut cityHamra and Ras Beirut, Verdun and Mazraa, Achrafieh and Tariq al-Jadidafrom 8 to 12 working daysfrom 11 to 17 days
Mount LebanonJounieh, Keserwan and Byblos; the Metn; Hadath and Baabda; Aley and the Chouffrom 9 to 13 working daysfrom 12 to 18 days
North and AkkarBatroun and Koura, Tripoli and Zgharta, Bsharri and Dinniyeh, Halbafrom 9 to 14 working daysfrom 12 to 19 days
South and NabatiehSidon and Jezzine, Tyre, Nabatieh, Marjayoun and Hasbayafrom 9 to 14 working daysfrom 12 to 19 days

Times are approximate and depend on traffic at Jaber, Nassib and Masnaa and on how quickly clearance papers are completed. If you have a flight or a flat handover date in Lebanon, tell us when you book so we can put you on the first departing truck rather than waiting for a shared load to fill.

Moving household goods from Jeddah neighbourhoods to Lebanon

We cover every part of Jeddah: in the north Al-Naeem, Al-Zahra, Obhur Al-Shamaliyah, Al-Muhammadiyah and Al-Shati; Al-Rawdah, Al-Salamah, Al-Khalidiyah, Al-Andalus and Al-Hamra in the centre; and Al-Safa, Al-Marwah, Al-Faisaliyah, Al-Rehab, Al-Bawadi, Al-Hamdaniyah and more. In older buildings with narrow lifts we bring lowering gear, ropes and a larger crew; at villas we load straight from the courtyard into the truck.

Loading Lebanon cargo in Jeddah
Our crew loads numbered cartons from a Jeddah villa courtyard into a closed truck bound for Lebanon

The work at your home follows set steps:

  • Survey: In person or from photos and video on WhatsApp, from which we estimate volume and suggest a shared or dedicated truck.
  • Dismantling and numbering: We take apart beds, wardrobes and kitchens, give each piece a number that matches the inventory, and bag the screws under the piece’s name.
  • Multi-layer wrapping: Bubble film, then heavy cardboard, then blankets for furniture, with glass, marble and antiques going into wooden crates.
  • Appliances: We drain washing machines and fridges, lock the washer drum and box screens in cartons cut to size.
  • Photo inventory: You receive a list of items with photos, the same list our representative uses at Nassib and Masnaa.
  • Reassembly in Lebanon: We put beds and wardrobes back together in your new home on request, agreed in the quote beforehand.

Jeddah is humid, and the road runs through hot desert before reaching the Lebanese mountains, which are cold in winter. So we never seal damp wood in airtight film; we let it dry and add a breathable layer, so there is no smell or staining when the cartons are opened in Beirut or Zahle. If your Jeddah lease ends before your travel date, we offer short-term storage and load your goods on the next suitable truck. For whole-home moves in more depth, read furniture moving from Saudi Arabia to Lebanon.

Are a returning Lebanese family’s belongings from Jeddah duty-free?

Yes, under conditions. Lebanese customs exempt the used household effects of a Lebanese citizen returning for good, once in a lifetime, if they have lived outside Lebanon for more than three consecutive years. The known conditions are:

  • An itemised list bearing the Lebanese embassy’s stamp in Riyadh, together with its letter on your Saudi residence and final return.
  • The shipment must arrive within three months of your entry into Lebanon, and you must attend clearance in person.
  • Your original passport showing the last entry, a recent family civil extract (ikhraj qaid), a municipality-certified lease and a residence certificate from the mukhtar.
  • The items must genuinely be used and form a complete household rather than odd pieces.
  • The goods may not be sold for three years.

Take note

Brand-new appliances and furniture are charged duty plus 11% VAT, and the household exemption never extends to vehicles. Conditions are confirmed with Lebanese customs before shipping, and we review your papers with you before loading so the shipment is not held at Masnaa. Details in Lebanon used household goods customs rules.

Air freight from Jeddah to Beirut

Middle East Airlines flies from King Abdulaziz Airport in Jeddah to Rafic Hariri Airport in Beirut, with a flight time of about 3 h 45 min; schedules may change. On these flights we send official papers and certificates, personal medicines with a prescription, urgent gifts and clothes, small spare parts and anything you need within days rather than weeks.

  • Rate per kg: from SAR 32; we bill the greater of actual and volumetric weight.
  • Door to door: about 3–5 days, with flight timings and airport clearance in Beirut setting the pace.
  • Good for: light shipments up to a few dozen kilograms.
  • Not good for: large furniture and heavy appliances, where the air bill quickly runs to several times the road price.

Example: a 10 kg carton of papers and gifts costs from about SAR 320 by air and arrives within days, while by truck that carton starts from SAR 184 yet needs a week and a half or more. Before you decide, compare the options in air freight from Saudi Arabia to Lebanon.

Is there sea freight from Jeddah Islamic Port to Beirut?

Containers do sail between Jeddah and Lebanon: yours can be loaded at Jeddah Islamic Port and discharged in Beirut or Tripoli, with the whole trip to the final address taking somewhere near 15–25 days. This suits a trader filling a 20 or 40 ft container with goods that are not urgent. Household moves go by road, because a sea container passes through more stages: consolidation and loading in Jeddah, waiting for a sailing, unloading and clearance at the port, then inland delivery. Sea container rates vary with the shipping line and season, so request a quote with the type of goods and approximate weight.

Car shipping from Jeddah to Lebanon

A car can make the trip if it is left-hand drive and aged 8 years or under, because Lebanon does not allow the import of older passenger cars and does not accept right-hand-drive vehicles; for transport vehicles the limit is 5 years. The car travels on an enclosed or open carrier from Jeddah to Lebanon and crosses Syria as transit cargo on the carrier. Prices start from SAR 4,140 and vary with the size of the car and the type of carrier.

  • In Saudi Arabia: we complete the export through Absher and register it on Fasah; you will need the istimara, a copy of the owner’s ID or iqama, and any finance lien lifted before loading.
  • In Lebanon: you pay duty, excise and VAT, all assessed at Masnaa from the car’s price and age.
  • Inside the car: it must travel empty of personal items; send your belongings in separate cartons on the truck.
  • Temporary entry: Lebanese living abroad may bring their car into Lebanon temporarily under the customs law, and we go through the papers this requires with you before shipping.

Motorcycles are a different story: their transit rules are unclear for now, so we do not offer them. Everything else about vehicles is on car shipping from Saudi Arabia to Lebanon.

Cartons, parcels and family consignments from Jeddah

Most Lebanese expatriates in Jeddah send their families cartons of clothes, gifts, boxed sweets and school supplies, or the bags of a student heading back to university in Beirut. We group these small shipments on the shared truck and price them by weight: SAR 110 upwards for a parcel of 5 kg or less, SAR 184 upwards for one of 20 kg, and consolidated freight from SAR 11 per kg for larger quantities. We collect from your home and hand over in person to whoever you name in Lebanon, with their phone number.

Tip

Write the recipient’s name and Lebanese number on two sides of each carton, and put a contents slip inside. A carton whose contents are known clears faster at Masnaa. Details in cartons and parcels shipping to Lebanon.

Commercial freight from Jeddah to Lebanon

Jeddah traders and factories have two options: a part load (LTL), where you share the truck and pay per cubic metre from SAR 230, or a full load (FTL), where you hire the truck alone from SAR 5,520 for 20 ft capacity and SAR 7,360 for 40 ft. Heavier consignments are priced from SAR 1,100, and big machinery from SAR 2,300.

Traders should know this: with both countries inside the Greater Arab Free Trade Area, Saudi-produced cargo travelling with a proper origin certificate enters Lebanon duty-free, though VAT at 11% is still due at the border. Goods of non-Saudi origin pay duty according to their tariff line. Together we prepare the certificate of origin, invoice and packing list and follow clearance at Masnaa through to delivery.

Note that some goods are handled under special procedures at Nassib, such as electronics, raw glass, heavy machinery and chilled cargo, so tell us what you are shipping before you book and we will choose the right loading method. Full service details at international land freight.

Delivery to Jounieh, Beirut and every Lebanese governorate

After Masnaa the truck is in the Bekaa plain, so Zahle and Chtaura come first, then it climbs over the Dahr al-Baidar road towards Beirut and Mount Lebanon. We deliver in Beirut proper and its suburbs such as Hadath and Baabda; in Metn, Keserwan, Jounieh and Byblos up to Batroun; in the North to Tripoli, Koura, Zgharta, Bsharri, Dinniyeh and Halba in Akkar; and in the South to Sidon, Tyre and Jezzine, as well as Nabatieh, Marjayoun and Hasbaya.

Delivery in Jounieh, Lebanon
Our truck climbs a street between Jounieh homes overlooking the bay to deliver a shipment from Jeddah

In mountain areas such as Aley, the Chouf and some Keserwan villages the roads narrow, so we move the load onto a smaller truck before arrival and agree the best time with the recipient. When you book, give us a clear address and an active Lebanese number: addresses in Lebanon rely heavily on nearby landmarks, and a description of the building and floor saves hours.

We handle the export declaration and the border appointment on Fasah. If a paper is missing, it is far better to complete it in Jeddah before loading, because fixing it with the truck parked at the border costs days. For the extended list see shipping company from Saudi Arabia to Lebanon.

Prohibited and restricted items for Lebanon

Lebanon’s official list, together with transit and export restrictions, sets out what we cannot load. The main prohibited items:

  • Weapons, ammunition, knives and swords, and narcotics.
  • Small gas lighters, gas cylinders and flammable or explosive materials.
  • Used medical and radiological equipment, and 900 MHz cordless phones.
  • Cars for passengers beyond 8 years old, and goods vehicles beyond 5.
  • Cedar seeds and seedlings, non-iodised salt, scrap and waste.
  • Goods with misleading origin marks and goods of an origin banned under Lebanese law.
  • Medicines in commercial quantities without a licence, and antiquities or subsidised goods barred from export by the Kingdom.

Some goods are restricted rather than banned: food in commercial quantities needs approval from the ministries of agriculture or health, wireless and satellite devices need telecoms approval, and pets need a vaccination certificate. Ask us before you pack anything you are unsure about.

What decides the cost of shipping from Jeddah to Lebanon?

Five things decide your final bill: how many cubic metres or kilos your goods take up; whether you share a truck or hire one; how much packing is needed (wooden crates add cost); the Lebanese region, since the North and South are further from Masnaa than the Bekaa and Beirut; and insurance, if you want it. Customs clearance is added from SAR 276 depending on the shipment.

Take a family in Al-Salamah moving a bedroom, a large sofa, a large fridge, a washer and 10 cartons to Beirut. The bedroom from SAR 1,840, the sofa from 1,100, the fridge from 920 and the washer from 460, with the cartons charged by weight. The total starts from about SAR 4,300 before cartons and clearance. If the volume grows beyond that, compare with a dedicated truck, which may work out cheaper.

Cheapest ways to ship from Jeddah to Lebanon

  • Shared road freight for a limited number of items, so you pay only your share of the truck.
  • Trim the load: leave behind low-value furniture whose freight would exceed the cost of replacing it in Lebanon.
  • Delivery in the Bekaa or Beirut costs less than remote mountain villages, so receive at a family home in town if you can.
  • Book early, before the summer and holiday peaks when demand for trucks rises.
  • If you are returning for good, have the exemption papers complete; they save you all the duty.

Common mistakes when shipping from Jeddah to Lebanon

  • Shipping a car older than 8 years: it will be refused in Lebanon even if it reaches the border, so check the year of manufacture before booking.
  • Believing an offer of “one Saudi truck from Jeddah to Beirut”: Saudi trucks do not currently continue inside Syria, so ask the company how it manages the transfer at Nassib.
  • Leaving belongings inside the car: this is treated as a violation and can delay clearance.
  • An incomplete contents list: an exemption list that does not match the cartons voids the exemption.
  • Packing for a single trip: the shipment is loaded twice, so light packing is not enough for glass and heavy wood.

We also handle shipments from Lebanon to Jeddah on the same road in the opposite direction, such as returning students’ belongings, gifts and some commercial goods, subject to the type of goods and Saudi import requirements.
