Need a shipping company from Madinah to Kuwait? Gulf International Shipping carries household furniture, cars, cartons, dates and trade goods from Madinah and its governorates to every part of Kuwait, by road through Qassim and Hafar Al-Batin and across the Al Ruqi crossing, which faces Kuwait’s Al Salmi post. The distance is about 1,100–1,150 km, the shortest of any city in western Saudi Arabia, and a shipment normally reaches the receiver’s door in 3 to 5 days. Our starting rates on this lane run from SAR 46 (small parcel) and SAR 110 (carton) through SAR 735 for a majlis set and SAR 920 for a bedroom, up to SAR 2,300 for a sedan.
Most people shipping from Madinah to Kuwait fall into one of three groups: an expatriate family following a breadwinner to a new job in Kuwait, a Kuwaiti family ending its stay in Madinah, or a dates and produce trader supplying the Kuwaiti market. Each has its own questions, so this page answers them in order: route and timing first, then price, then packing, then paperwork and customs.

Why Madinah is the shortest western route to Kuwait
Madinah lies north of Makkah and Jeddah, and its road to Kuwait runs east straight towards Qassim without passing through Riyadh. That saves the truck hundreds of kilometres compared with loads from Makkah and Jeddah, and makes Madinah the Hijaz city closest to the Ruqi crossing. The comparison below puts numbers on the difference; all distances are approximate to Kuwait City and depend on the road and crossing:
A shorter road does not mean one-day delivery. The truck still needs time for packing and loading, a long drive broken by the driver’s mandatory rest periods, and exit and entry formalities at two border posts. Where the difference shows is that Madinah loads tend to arrive at the start of the quoted range, especially on a dedicated truck. If you are shipping from elsewhere in the west, see shipping company from Tabuk to Kuwait and shipping company from Makkah to Kuwait.
The truck’s road from Madinah to the Ruqi crossing
Gulf International Shipping trucks leave Madinah on the road to Qassim, pass Buraidah and carry on east to Hafar Al-Batin, then on to the new Al Ruqi crossing in the same governorate. Some trips take the northern road through Hail instead, when the truck is also carrying grouped freight from that direction. Either way the crossing point is Ruqi, the inland post nearest to northern and western Kuwait.

Al Ruqi faces Kuwait’s Al Salmi post in Al Jahra governorate, about two hours from Kuwait City. The other crossing between the two countries, Khafji–Nuwaiseeb, sits on the eastern coast and serves loads from Dammam and Jubail; Madinah freight only goes that way if it is grouped in Dammam for delivery in southern Kuwait. And do not be misled by pages naming “Abdali” as a crossing from Saudi Arabia: it is Kuwait’s border post with Iraq.
While the truck is still on the road we reserve its Ruqi crossing time through Fasah and file the cargo details, as the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority requires for every truck heading to a land port. This cuts waiting time at the border and makes sure the declared data matches what is on the truck. Both crossings are explained in Saudi–Kuwait border crossings for shipping.
Approximate shipping prices from Madinah to Kuwait
No carrier publishes a price list for the Madinah–Kuwait lane itself, so we took the rates advertised for Jeddah to Kuwait and set Gulf International Shipping’s figures under them. Each row shows two figures: our starting price and the usual ceiling for a larger or more awkward load.
Note: a truck from Madinah needs 3–5 days, varying with the Kuwaiti area and clearance time, while an air parcel needs 24–72 hours, depending on cargo space on flights.
Item prices and how each is charged
Some items are priced per piece, others by weight or volume. The table shows the basis for each price so you know how your shipment will be calculated before you call:
Notice how the per-kilo rate falls as the load grows: SAR 4.1 for shipments of 100–500 kg, then SAR 3.2 above 500 kg. So it can pay to combine your cartons with a relative’s or neighbour’s in a single consignment, pushing the total into the cheaper bracket. For anything missing from the table, such as large antiques, gym machines or equipment, a few photos and the dimensions sent over WhatsApp are enough for us to give you a quote.

Your shipment from Madinah to Kuwait, day by day
This is the usual timeline for a furniture shipment on a dedicated truck. On a shared truck, add up to a day for the load to fill, and border waits can stretch at weekends and in holiday seasons:
- 1Day 1: the packing crew arrives at your home in Madinah, dismantles, wraps and numbers everything, then loads it, photographs the load and hands you the inventory.
- 2Day 2: the truck heads for Qassim and then Hafar Al-Batin while the export data is uploaded on Fasah and the crossing slot is booked.
- 3Day 3: arrival at Al Ruqi at the booked time, exit formalities from the Kingdom, then entry through Al Salmi and completion of the Kuwaiti customs declaration.
- 4Day 4: the truck drives to the receiver’s address, unloads and reassembles, and hands over every piece against the same inventory.
- 5Day 5 (buffer): used when the crossing is busy, the delivery area is far from the border, or the receiver needs more time to get the place ready.
Packing Madinah homes: majlis sets, chests and carpets
Homes in Madinah often hold pieces you rarely find in modern flats: Arabic majlis seating with many cushions, carved wooden chests, handmade carpets and heavy timber wardrobes. They need different packing from an ordinary sofa; rushed, they reach Kuwait scratched or full of dust.
- Majlis seating and cushions: cushions go into large sealed bags, and the bases are wrapped in blankets and then film, so light fabric stays clean on the road.
- Carved wooden chests: a thick moving blanket protects the carving from rubbing, then strapping, and the chest is stowed away from metal items in the truck.
- Handmade carpets: rolled face-in around a tube and covered in film, never folded, so the fibres do not crack.
- Heavy wardrobes: doors and drawers come off and are wrapped on their own, every part gets a number, and the fittings are bagged and labelled with that number.
- Mirrors and glass tables: made-to-measure wooden crates, because the road runs to more than 1,100 km.

We collect across Madinah, from Al Jurf, Al Iskan, Al Difa, Al Anabis, Sultanah and Bani Harithah to Al Khalidiyah, Shuran, the eastern and western Harrah, Al Aziziyah, Al Awali and Quba, and from the region’s governorates: Yanbu, AlUla, Badr, Khaybar, Al Hinakiyah, Al Mahd and Wadi Al Fara. Large shipments get a truck sent straight to the address; small ones are grouped in Madinah before departure.

Shipping Madinah dates and food to Kuwait
Hardly a shipment leaves Madinah for Kuwait without dates in it, some as presents for family and some as stock for date shops. A personal quantity packed in sealed cartons travels on the shared truck at carton or per-kilo rates, from SAR 110 a carton or SAR 4.1 a kilo. Commercial quantities need an invoice and a certificate of origin, and health certificates may be requested depending on the product; we confirm this with you before loading.
Fresh dates and other food that must stay cool go in a reefer truck; a small chilled consignment costs from SAR 1,840. We recommend packing dates in airtight containers inside the carton and writing the variety and weight on each box, as a clear description shortens inspection. Do not pack dates in the same carton as furniture items, as smell and moisture soak into fabric.
Car shipping from Madinah to Kuwait
Cars travel from Madinah to Kuwait with us by road carrier only, priced by the type of car and the carrier it rides on:
Age is the condition that matters most in Kuwait: no car may be imported once 10 years have passed since its year of manufacture, and the younger the car, the smoother the clearance. Right-hand-drive, rebuilt, flooded and badly crashed cars are turned away as well. At the border the car is inspected and its VIN checked; Kuwait levies 5% duty on its value, without VAT, and the car is then registered with the traffic department.
On the Saudi side, the car cannot leave Madinah until the traffic department has issued its export paperwork and plates, the fines are paid, the istimara and owner ID are in hand, Absher shows a mandate for anyone delivering it on the owner’s behalf, any finance company has released it, and Fasah carries its export declaration. If you want to drive your car into Kuwait and bring it back, you need a triptyque (carnet) and insurance covering Kuwait instead of final export. On loading day, keep fuel to about a quarter, charge an EV to between 30% and 50%, and clear the cabin. Every car rule is explained in the car shipping from Saudi Arabia to Kuwait guide.
Air freight from Madinah to Kuwait
For urgent shipments we fly cargo from Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Airport in Madinah to Kuwait International, according to available flight schedules, or from Jeddah airport when more frequent flights are needed. Door to door, expect one to three days, and we tell you the flight and the space on board at the moment you book.
An airline charges a parcel on its weight or its size, whichever produces the bigger number, so one fixed per-kilo price would be misleading: send the weight and dimensions on WhatsApp to 0568829975 and request a quote. Air suits official documents, small devices and urgent parcels, not furniture. For loads that are both urgent and bulky, the quicker road option is a run to Dammam and then across at Khafji, which leaves only around 420 km to Kuwait City. Airports and flight options are set side by side in the air freight from Saudi Arabia to Kuwait guide.
Customs and taxes in Kuwait: what will your shipment pay?
Start with this: Kuwait has not introduced VAT, so any quote adding a 5% tax on top of duty is padded. Duty itself is usually 5%, charged on goods from outside the Gulf; Saudi-made products carrying a GCC origin certificate are waved through free of it.
Second-hand furniture is treated differently. Kuwait’s version of the Gulf unified customs code (Article 103) lifts duty on used belongings and home contents in two cases: a Kuwaiti citizen returning after living abroad, and an expatriate who is making Kuwait home for the very first time, with the specifics decided by Kuwait’s customs directorate. You will generally be asked for a Civil ID, a work permit and a list of items, and we verify the exact requirements before departure. New furniture and appliances generally pay the 5% rate unless made in the Gulf. The detailed guide is Kuwait used household goods customs.
Documents required for shipping from Madinah to Kuwait
- Furniture and household goods: your ID or iqama copy and an itemised list; in Kuwait, the receiver’s Civil ID, and proof of work or residence where the used-goods exemption is being claimed.
- Car: export certificate, registration, fines clearance, Absher authorisation where needed, and finance-company clearance where the car is still being paid off.
- Commercial goods and dates: commercial invoice, commercial registration, GCC certificate of origin, and health certificates where requested.
- Cartons and parcels: a copy of your ID and a description of the contents, with the receiver’s name, phone and address in Kuwait.
Gulf International Shipping uploads the data on Fasah, books the crossing slot and coordinates with the Kuwaiti clearing agent at Salmi. Your part is to make the inventory honest and detailed, since it is the document inspectors rely on at both borders.
What can you not bring into Kuwait?
- Pork and pork products, alcoholic drinks and brewing kits.
- Gambling machines, pornographic material and narcotics.
- Used medical equipment.
- Cars more than 10 years old.
- Walkie-talkies and radio transmitters, firearms and ammunition (even antique), and goods connected with Israel.
Restricted items include medicines (Ministry of Health approval), pets (health certificate) and books and media (censorship). We do not accept e-cigarettes as commercial cargo. Not sure about something? Ask us first, and pack it only once we have confirmed it.

Shipping cartons and parcels from Madinah to Kuwait
Students, workers and visitors often need to send a few cartons rather than a household. These join the shared truck: a small parcel from SAR 46, a medium parcel from SAR 110, a carton from SAR 110, a bag of up to 30 kg from SAR 184, and a 50 kg consignment of clothing from SAR 920. Under Kuwait’s customs instructions a personal parcel worth up to about KWD 100 is free of duty, while costlier or commercial parcels are handled as goods. See cartons and parcels shipping to Kuwait.
Commercial freight from Madinah to Kuwait
Madinah traders have two options: a part load charged per pallet from SAR 595 or per kilo from SAR 3.2 for large quantities, or a dedicated truck from SAR 6,900 that leaves straight away. Products of Saudi origin backed by a Gulf origin certificate normally clear free of duty, imports from beyond the Gulf pay 5%, and where duty was paid in the Kingdom the Gulf offset arrangement (maqassa) can apply. The trader’s guide is goods shipping from Saudi Arabia to Kuwait.
Delivery in Farwaniya and across Kuwait
Because Madinah trucks enter at Al Salmi in western Kuwait, the quickest deliveries are to Jahra and then Farwaniya, followed by the Capital, Hawalli and Mubarak Al-Kabeer; Ahmadi in the south is furthest from this crossing. We deliver to all six governorates:
- Farwaniya: Farwaniya, Khaitan, Ardiya and Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh.
- Al Jahra: Jahra, Al Qasr and Al Oyoun, the first governorate after the border.
- Capital: Kuwait City, Shuwaikh and Dasma, about two hours from Salmi.
- Hawalli: Hawalli, Salmiya and Jabriya, mostly towers where the lift must be booked.
- Mubarak Al-Kabeer: Sabah Al-Salem and Qurain.
- Al Ahmadi: Fahaheel, Mangaf, Wafra and Sabah Al-Ahmad.

Ask the receiver to be at the address on delivery day, or to authorise someone holding a copy of their Civil ID, and to agree a lift time with the building watchman. Small details like these are what turn a day-long delivery into an hour.

- 3Prepare the papers: your ID, an itemised list and, where relevant, the car or goods paperwork.
- 4Loading: our crew packs, loads and photographs the load, and we upload the data on Fasah.
- 5Delivery: the truck crosses at Ruqi and then Salmi and delivers to the address, with assembly.
How to estimate the cost of shipping from Madinah
The price depends on the size or weight of the shipment, the choice between a shared and a private truck, the level of packing, the number of floors at your home and at the Kuwaiti building, whether storage is needed before shipping, the area of Kuwait and the season.
Example: an employee moving from Al Aziziyah to Farwaniya ships a majlis set (from SAR 735), a bedroom (from SAR 920), a TV and small electronics (from SAR 640) and eight cartons (8 × SAR 110 = SAR 880). The cost starts at roughly SAR 3,175 on a shared truck. If the load grows to a whole apartment, it is usually cheaper to price it as an apartment or a dedicated truck rather than adding up items.
Keeping the cost down on the Madinah–Kuwait lane
A shared truck keeps the bill lowest, since several customers split the cost of the road, and above 500 kg your rate falls to SAR 3.2 a kilo. Other practical savings: sell old furniture rather than ship it, combine your load with a relative’s or neighbour’s, avoid the end-of-school-year weeks when demand peaks, and have your papers ready before loading day so you do not pay for waiting days.
Mistakes to avoid when shipping from Madinah to Kuwait
- Shipping a car without checking its year: Kuwait will not accept a car more than 10 years old, and the loss is heavy.
- Packing dates with furniture: moisture and smell ruin fabric and cushions.
- Folding handmade carpets: it cracks the fibres; roll them on a tube instead.
- Accepting a “5% VAT” charge: Kuwait has no VAT, and anyone adding it is inflating your price.
- A generic contents list: “personal items” on its own delays clearance.
