Gulf International Shipping carries cargo by road from Jeddah to Kuwait through Saudi Arabia’s Al-Ruqai border post and Kuwait’s Al-Salmi crossing, reaching the door in 3–5 working days over a route of roughly 1,500 km via Qassim and Hafar Al-Batin. On this lane a Gulf International Shipping customer pays from SAR 46 to send a small parcel, from SAR 110 per carton, SAR 4.1 a kilo for commercial loads, SAR 920 for a bedroom and SAR 2,300 to move a sedan, while air cargo from King Abdulaziz Airport to Kuwait International is priced on weight and the flight available.
This page is for anyone in Jeddah who wants the facts first: what it costs, when the truck leaves, which border it uses and what Kuwaiti customs will ask for. Prices come first because that is the first question everyone asks. After that we follow the long drive from the Red Sea coast to the Gulf, then take each type of shipment in turn: furniture, cars, merchants’ goods, cartons and air freight.
In short

Approximate shipping prices from Jeddah to Kuwait
The table shows the opening figures Gulf International Shipping charges on Jeddah–Kuwait loads. We checked what other Jeddah carriers advertise on this lane and set our opening figure below theirs. Read each range as two things: what the smallest booking of that kind costs, and roughly where the price tops out for bulkier or awkward loads.
Note: by truck, Jeddah to Kuwait is normally a 3–5 working day trip, shaped by the kind of truck and the governorate you are in; by plane it is 24–72 hours, flights permitting.
Price list by item from Jeddah
Most people who call us from Jeddah are not moving a whole house. They want to send a sofa set, a kitchen, a few cartons or stock for their shop. So we break the price down by item. Every figure is a “from” price that includes road transport to the agreed governorate in Kuwait.
Air freight has no fixed line in the list because it moves with the actual and volumetric weight and with the space left on the flight on the day you book. Send the weight and dimensions to WhatsApp 0568829975 and you will get a price for your specific shipment.
How does the truck cross Saudi Arabia from Jeddah to Al-Salmi?
Jeddah sits on the Red Sea and Kuwait on the Arabian Gulf, so the truck crosses almost the full width of the Kingdom. The route Gulf International Shipping uses heads north-east out of Jeddah towards Qassim, then on to Hafar Al-Batin in the far north of the Eastern Province, and from there to the Al-Ruqai border post. Across the line is Kuwait’s Al-Salmi crossing in Jahra Governorate, and from there the truck reaches Kuwait City and the other governorates in about two hours.
Some people expect a Jeddah shipment to go through Riyadh and then Dammam, but for most Kuwaiti addresses that only adds distance. The Qassim–Hafar Al-Batin road is the shortest way to the north-eastern border, which is why we use it for dedicated trucks. Shared loads may stop at a consolidation point on the way to fill up, and that explains the gap between three days and five.

The new Al-Ruqai port in Hafar Al-Batin Governorate was built to handle up to 2,000 trucks and 12,000 vehicles a day, and it is the crossing used by trucks coming from the west and centre of the Kingdom. Ahead of the truck’s arrival, our team reserves its slot on Fasah and enters the cargo details, which is what ZATCA demands of every vehicle heading for a land port. A truck that turns up without one can wait for hours or be sent back to the queue.
A day-by-day timeline from Jeddah to Kuwait
When you book a Jeddah shipment with us, we send a schedule like the one below. The days shift slightly with the truck type and how busy the border is. This example is a furniture load on a shared truck, collected on a weekday morning:
- 1Day 1: dismantling, packing and loading
The crew arrives at your home in Jeddah, takes the pieces apart, numbers and wraps them, loads the truck and hands you an inventory. - 2Day 2: on the road to Qassim
The truck covers the longest stretch, and we update you on its position over WhatsApp. - 3Day 3: Hafar Al-Batin and Al-Ruqai
The truck arrives in its booked Fasah slot and completes the Saudi exit. - 4Day 4: Al-Salmi and Kuwaiti clearance
The load is inspected and the entry papers completed, then the truck heads for your governorate. - 5Day 5: delivery and reassembly
We call the receiver before arrival, unload and put back together everything we took apart.
A truck dedicated to one customer usually saves a full day, because it neither waits for a full load nor stops to consolidate. Over holidays and weekends the queues at the border get longer, so we recommend loading early in the week so the truck does not reach the crossing on a Thursday evening.
Why doesn’t a Jeddah shipment use the Khafji crossing?
Saudi Arabia and Kuwait share two land crossings for freight: Khafji in the east, facing Kuwait’s Nuwaiseeb, and Al-Ruqai inland, facing Al-Salmi. Khafji is the natural choice from Dammam, Khobar or Jubail because it sits on the coastal road. From Jeddah, the natural route leads to Al-Ruqai. Sending a Jeddah load to Khafji would mean going through Riyadh and Dammam and then up the coast, an extra distance you rarely need.
There is one case where we route a Jeddah shipment through Khafji: when the address is in southern Kuwait, such as Ahmadi, Fahaheel or Wafra, and the load is already being consolidated in Dammam. Nuwaiseeb is then closer to the receiver’s door. One correction worth making, because it appears on many shipping pages: Abdali is Kuwait’s crossing with Iraq, not with Saudi Arabia, while Rafha has no border post with Kuwait.
Good to know: For a detailed comparison of the two crossings, typical waiting times and the papers needed at each, read our guide to Saudi–Kuwait border crossings for shipping.
Moving household furniture from Jeddah to Kuwait
Furniture leaving Jeddah spends some 1,500 km inside a truck box, going from a humid coastal city across a dry desert road into Kuwait. At Gulf International Shipping we therefore wrap each piece in several layers: fabric blankets over wood, stretch film over the blankets, bubble wrap for glass and mirrors, and cardboard corners on every edge. Marble tops and large glass panels go into wooden crates, and wardrobes are dismantled with their screws bagged and labelled with the name of the piece.

Air conditioners need their gas recovered before removal, and fridges should be emptied and dried at least a day ahead so moisture does not build up inside on the road. Large TVs travel in reinforced boxes, and paintings are bubble-wrapped and stood upright. We photograph valuable items before loading and give you a numbered list to check against when the load arrives in Kuwait.
How we load in Jeddah depends on the building: narrow lifts in the older districts, towers in the north where the building guard sets the loading time, and villas with wide entrances where the truck can park right outside. We ask about the floor and the lift size the day before so we bring the right number of movers and lifting gear.
Do you pay Kuwaiti customs on used furniture?
Kuwait applies the GCC’s unified customs law, and its Article 103 waives duty on used household goods and personal belongings in two cases: a Kuwaiti coming home after living abroad, or a foreign national moving to Kuwait for the first time. Kuwaiti customs fixes the precise conditions, and we go over them with you before anything ships. The Kuwaiti Civil ID, a work permit and an itemised list are normally requested. New furniture and appliances usually attract 5% duty unless they are Saudi or GCC-made and carry a certificate of origin.
For the full picture of who qualifies and which papers are needed, see our guide to Kuwait used household goods customs, and if you are moving a whole home from anywhere in the Kingdom, read furniture moving from Saudi Arabia to Kuwait.
Car shipping from Jeddah to Kuwait: open or enclosed carrier?
To get your car from Jeddah to Kuwait, Gulf International Shipping offers three options, each with its own price and level of protection. The open two-deck carrier is the most economical and suits family cars and sedans. A private flatbed carries one car and leaves on your schedule. An enclosed carrier or hydraulic flatbed suits luxury, sports and classic cars that should not face 1,500 km of dust and grit.
Before shipping, the car needs a clear Saudi export path: an export certificate from the Traffic Department and export plates, settled fines, electronic authorisation through Absher, and finally an export entry on Fasah once the VIN has been checked against it. A car financed by a bank needs the bank’s release letter first. If you only want to drive your car in Kuwait for a while and bring it back, the route is the triptyque (التربتك) with insurance that covers Kuwait, not a final export.
On the Kuwaiti side, cars more than 10 years past their year of manufacture cannot be imported, and newer cars clear more easily. Customs duty is 5% of the value and there is no VAT. Right-hand-drive, rebuilt, flood-damaged and badly crashed vehicles are banned. We advise residents who are not Kuwaiti nationals to check the import permit required by the Ministry of Commerce before shipping, as the conditions can depend on the importer’s status.
Tip: Leave a quarter tank of fuel, empty the car of personal belongings and photograph it from every side before loading. Electric cars should travel with the battery between 30% and 50%. Everything else is in our guide to car shipping from Saudi Arabia to Kuwait.
Shipping merchandise and e-commerce stock from Jeddah to Kuwait
Jeddah is a trading city, and many of our Kuwait loads are stock for shops, suppliers and online stores: clothing, perfume, homeware, packaged food and spare parts. Gulf International Shipping prices these by the kilo, the cubic metre or the pallet. The kilo starts at SAR 4.1 for loads between 100 and 500 kg and drops to SAR 3.2 above 500 kg. Mixed items start at SAR 505 per cubic metre and a pallet at SAR 595.
The difference between part-load (LTL) and full-load (FTL) shipping is simple. With part-load, your goods share the truck with other consignments and you pay only for the space they take. With a full load, the truck is booked for you alone, from SAR 6,900, and leaves on your date without consolidation. A merchant sending a few cubic metres saves with part-load; one who fills a truck or needs a precise date is better off with a full load.
Anything manufactured in the Kingdom crosses into Kuwait duty-free as long as a GCC certificate of origin travels with it, thanks to the Gulf customs union. Third-country imports normally attract 5%; where that duty has already been settled in Saudi Arabia, it may be recoverable through the GCC clearing arrangement (المقاصة). On paper, the merchant supplies an itemised invoice, the packing list, a copy of the CR and that origin certificate. More in our guide to goods shipping from Saudi Arabia to Kuwait.
Air freight from Jeddah to Kuwait
Non-stop, Jeddah’s King Abdulaziz airport is roughly two hours’ flying from Kuwait, and more than one airline flies the route. That keeps air freight a practical choice for documents, small electronics, permitted medicines and urgent spare parts, with door-to-door delivery usually within 24–72 hours depending on flight availability.
We book air cargo into Kuwait on the schedules currently operating, and lock in the flight and the space at the moment of booking. When something can’t wait and the Kuwait flights are full, the fallback is a flight to Dammam followed by a truck through Khafji, quick because Dammam sits only some 420 km from Kuwait. You pay on whichever is greater, real or volumetric kilos; message 0568829975 with the numbers to get your price.
Full households and cars do not normally go by air: the cost multiplies for little gain when the road gets them there in a few days. For airports, volumetric weight and more, read air freight from Saudi Arabia to Kuwait.
Is there sea freight from Jeddah port to Kuwait?
Jeddah Islamic Port is on the Red Sea and Kuwait is on the Gulf, so a ship between them sails right round the Arabian Peninsula. That is why we do not use the sea for furniture, cars or small shipments: the road is shorter and its timings are clearer. Sea freight remains an option on request for large commercial containers only, and we look at it with the merchant according to the goods and the deadline.
Shipping cartons and bags from Jeddah to Kuwait
A student moving to study, an employee sending belongings ahead of the flight, a family posting gifts to relatives: all of them need cartons and bags shipped, not a full house. With Gulf International Shipping a small parcel starts at SAR 46, a 60×40×40 carton at SAR 110 and a personal bag up to 30 kg at SAR 184, all consolidated on a shared truck leaving Jeddah for Kuwait.
- Use new, thick cartons; second-hand boxes weaken with humidity and vibration.
- Keep each carton to 25–30 kg so it does not split when lifted.
- Write the receiver’s name and Kuwaiti phone number on two sides of the box.
- Put a list of contents in each carton, since customs may ask for it.
- Do not pack loose lithium batteries, large quantities of perfume or flammable liquids.
If you send cartons regularly or run an online store, read our guide to cartons and parcels shipping to Kuwait.
Which Jeddah districts do we collect from?
We collect from every district in Jeddah and from the towns around it. In the north: Obhur Al-Shamaliyah, Al-Shati, Al-Muhammadiyah, Al-Naeem, Al-Zahra, Al-Salamah, Al-Rawdah and Al-Khalidiyah. In the centre and south: Al-Hamra, Al-Aziziyah, Al-Safa, Al-Marwah, Al-Faisaliyah, Al-Bawadi, Al-Naseem, Al-Basateen and Al-Hamdaniyah. We also reach Rabigh, Khulais and Al-Kamil when the load is heading out of Jeddah towards Kuwait.
Warehouses and factories in the industrial area and south Jeddah get their own slot during working hours, and palletised goods are loaded by forklift. Small shipments that do not need a home visit can be dropped at a collection point by arrangement.
Delivery across Kuwait’s governorates
After Al-Salmi the truck enters Kuwait from the west, so Jahra is the first governorate it reaches, followed by Farwaniya and the Capital, then Hawalli, Mubarak Al-Kabeer and Ahmadi. We call the receiver well before arrival and ask them to keep a space for the truck and to tell the building guard if they live in a tower.

Documents required for shipping from Jeddah to Kuwait
The paperwork depends on what you ship. The Gulf International Shipping team sends you the right list and checks it before loading day, because anything missing will surface at the border as a delay you do not need.
What can’t you ship from Jeddah to Kuwait?
Some things Kuwaiti customs will refuse even in tiny amounts. Top of the list: drugs, alcohol and home-brewing kits, anything containing pork, explicit material, gaming and gambling machines, previously used medical equipment, two-way radios, guns and ammunition (antiques included), cars over 10 years old, and any product of, or tied to, Israel.
Others are allowed only with paperwork: medicines go in with a Ministry of Health release, pets with a vet’s health certificate, and printed or recorded media may be checked by the censor. We do not accept loose lithium batteries in furniture loads. This is a list of the main restrictions rather than a complete one, so ask us about anything you are unsure of before you pack it.
How to work out the cost of shipping from Jeddah to Kuwait
The final price depends on volume in cubic metres or weight in kilos, whether the truck is shared or dedicated, the packing required and whether any items need wooden crates, the floor and lift at both ends, the governorate in Kuwait and the season. Customs clearance is part of the package and is priced by shipment type.
A rough example: a family in Al-Safa ships a bedroom, a majlis set and 10 cartons to Farwaniya. The bedroom starts at SAR 920, the majlis at SAR 735 and the ten cartons at SAR 1,100 (SAR 110 each), so the total starts at around SAR 2,755 on a shared truck. Adding a sedan on a car carrier adds SAR 2,300. You get the exact figure once you send photos of your items.
The cheapest way to ship from Jeddah to Kuwait
- Shared truck: you pay for the space you use rather than a whole truck.
- Ship less: selling or donating old, heavy furniture before the move cuts the volume.
- Cartons, not loose items: small things packed in regular boxes take up less space.
- Avoid peak days: loading early in the week and outside holiday seasons means shorter queues.
- Saudi goods with a certificate of origin: saves you the 5% duty at Kuwaiti customs.
Common mistakes when shipping from Jeddah to Kuwait
- Agreeing with a carrier who promises one-day delivery on a road of about 1,500 km.
- Shipping a car more than 10 years old and finding out about the ban at the border.
- Leaving personal belongings inside a car being shipped.
- Sending new appliances with non-GCC invoices without budgeting for 5% duty.
- Wrapping furniture in stretch film alone, with no blankets or corner guards.
- Forgetting the receiver’s Kuwaiti number or full address.
- Believing pages that mention VAT in Kuwait, which has not introduced it.
