Land freight from Dammam to Kuwait takes one to two days, door to door. Gulf International Shipping collects in Dammam, Khobar, Dhahran, Qatif, Jubail and Al-Ahsa, drives north on the Abu Hadriyah coastal highway to the Khafji border post, and enters Kuwait at Nuwaiseeb in Al-Ahmadi Governorate. The trip is about 420 km, the shortest road run from any major Saudi city to Kuwait. Gulf International Shipping rates from Dammam start at SAR 64 for a parcel up to 10 kg, SAR 230 per cubic metre for part loads, SAR 1,380 for room-by-room furniture and SAR 1,100 for a sedan on a single flatbed.
This page is written for people in the Eastern Province: an employee moving from Khobar to Ahmadi, a Jubail plant sending pallets to Shuwaikh, or a family in Al-Ahsa shipping things to relatives in Jahra. Living this close to the border changes the whole job. The truck does not need to stop overnight, the paperwork can be finished on the day, and many loads arrive before an air shipment would even have cleared.

How long does land freight from Dammam to Kuwait take?
The short answer is one to two days from the sender’s door to the receiver’s. A load we pick up in the morning from Al-Faisaliyah or an industrial city usually reaches the Khafji crossing in the second half of the same day, passes into Nuwaiseeb once the data is matched, and is delivered in Ahmadi or Kuwait City that evening or the next morning. Groupage cargo that waits for a truck to fill can need one extra day before it sets off.
What really sets the transit time is not the length of the road but three things: whether the documents are ready before loading, the crossing slot booked on the Fasah platform, and the hour the truck reaches the border. That is why Gulf International Shipping schedules loading so the truck arrives at Khafji in the quieter hours, steering clear of Thursday and Friday evenings and holiday peaks whenever possible.

Why Khafji rather than Ruqai for Dammam cargo?
Saudi Arabia and Kuwait share two truck crossings: Khafji–Nuwaiseeb on the coast, and Ruqai–Salmi inland near Hafar Al-Batin. From Dammam, Khobar and Jubail, Khafji is closer by a wide margin because the road simply follows the coast north. Ruqai suits cargo from Riyadh, Qassim and the western cities that approaches from the Hafar Al-Batin side. If the receiver is in Jahra in western Kuwait, Ruqai may come up, but a truck leaving Dammam would drive much further to reach it, so Khafji remains the normal choice. Our guide to the Saudi–Kuwait border crossings compares both in full.
A note on crossing names
Some pages list “Abdali” for shipping from Saudi Arabia, but Abdali is the Kuwait–Iraq crossing. Others write “Rafha”, which is a Saudi town with no border post facing Kuwait. Dammam cargo crosses at Khafji into Nuwaiseeb.
Approximate shipping prices from Dammam to Kuwait
These are Gulf International Shipping starting rates from the Eastern Province. We set them after reviewing what other carriers on the Dammam–Kuwait road publish, and pitched ours below theirs. Each cell gives two numbers: the opening price for the smallest load of that kind, and then the figure most larger or harder-to-handle loads stay under. Because Dammam is nearer to Kuwait than Riyadh, no line from Dammam is priced above the same line from Riyadh.
Note: road transit from Dammam to Kuwait is usually one to two days depending on load size and traffic at Khafji, while air shipments land in 24–72 hours, subject to available flights.
Full Dammam rate list
The quote we send is built on the real volume or weight of your load, the type of truck (shared or dedicated) and the Kuwaiti area for delivery. To compare these figures with Riyadh, Jeddah and Taif in one place, see shipping prices from Saudi Arabia to Kuwait.
Pickup points across the Eastern Province
We collect from the customer’s door in almost every town in the region, then consolidate small loads in Dammam so they travel together towards Khafji. The table shows the usual road from each town and the crossing that fits it:
The Hafar Al-Batin point matters. It belongs to the Eastern Province administratively, yet the Ruqai crossing sits inside its own governorate, so sending its cargo to Khafji would make no sense. The reverse is also true: a load leaving Al-Ahsa does not go to Ruqai, because the coastal road is shorter and easier for trucks.
Shipping goods and industrial cargo from Dammam to Kuwait
Most truck traffic between the Eastern Province and Kuwait is commercial: output from Jubail plants and Dammam’s industrial cities, building materials, spare parts, online-store stock and food. Gulf International Shipping moves it in two ways. Shared trucking (LTL) is for a few pallets or 50–200 kg of goods, charged by cubic metre or weight and sharing the trailer with other customers. A dedicated truck (FTL) — a dyna, six-wheeler or trailer — is for anyone who fills the vehicle alone or needs a fixed arrival time.

Goods made in Saudi Arabia normally enter Kuwait free of customs duty, provided a GCC certificate of origin goes with them, since both countries belong to the Gulf customs union. Imports from beyond the Gulf usually attract 5% on their value; where Saudi duty has already been settled, they can be presented with GCC clearing (al-muqassa) documents. Certain products that compete with Kuwaiti-made goods can face higher rates, so we ask for the invoice and HS code before loading and tell you what may be required.
- Raw materials and bulk loads: from SAR 2,300, priced by the kilo or by the truck-mounted container.
- Heavy equipment: from SAR 2,750; we need dimensions and weight to choose the right truck and crane.
- Commercial pallets: from SAR 550 per pallet on a shared truck.
- Food and dates: shipped with an invoice and certificate of origin; chilled lines need a reefer truck arranged on request.

Moving household furniture from the Eastern Province to Kuwait
Families relocating from Khobar, Dhahran and Dammam to Kuwait usually send bedrooms, majlis seating, appliances, and cartons of clothes and books. The Gulf International Shipping crew takes beds and wardrobes apart and numbers every piece, wraps wood in foam and stretch film, crates glass and mirrors, and drains the refrigerant from air conditioners before taking them down. We then write the inventory that Kuwaiti customs will ask for.
Room-by-room furniture starts from SAR 1,380 and a three-room apartment from SAR 3,230. With such a short road, many families book a dedicated truck that carries the whole home in one run without any intermediate unloading, so everything arrives in the order it was packed.
Does used furniture pay duty in Kuwait?
Article 103 of the GCC unified customs law, in the form Kuwait applies, is the legal source of this exemption. It covers personal belongings and used household items for two groups: Kuwaitis coming home after living abroad, and foreigners settling in Kuwait as new residents. The detailed conditions are Kuwait Customs’ own, and we check them with you before shipping. New furniture and appliances generally carry 5% unless made in the GCC.
We explain those conditions and the papers behind them in Kuwait used household goods customs, and the full home-move process in furniture moving from Saudi Arabia to Kuwait.
Car shipping from Dammam to Kuwait
From Dammam, a sedan travels on a single flatbed from SAR 1,100, an SUV on a shared car carrier from SAR 2,590, and luxury or sports models travel hydraulic or enclosed from SAR 4,140. Transit is one to two days once the export paperwork is complete.
On the Saudi side, a departing car needs export plates and an export certificate issued by the traffic department, settled fines, an electronic authorisation, and an export declaration matching the chassis number. On the Kuwaiti side it is inspected and the VIN checked; Kuwait caps the age at 10 years counted from the manufacture year, the newer the car the easier its clearance, and charges 5% customs duty on its value. Right-hand-drive, rebuilt and flood-damaged cars are not accepted. We advise every resident to confirm the rules for registering a car in their own name in Kuwait before exporting; the details are in car shipping from Saudi Arabia to Kuwait.
Air freight from Dammam to Kuwait
The flight from King Fahd International Airport in Dammam to Kuwait International Airport is about an hour, since the air distance is only around 355 km. Flights into Kuwait airport operate on their current schedules, and we confirm the flight and the cargo space at booking. Collection to delivery normally runs 24–72 hours, depending on which flights have space and how quickly the airport clears the cargo.
Air pricing is set by whichever is higher, actual or volumetric weight, which means every shipment gets its own quote: send the weight and size by WhatsApp to 0568829975 and a rate comes back to you. Here Dammam has a real advantage: a truck leaving in the morning can arrive close to the time an air shipment would, at a fraction of the cost. We therefore recommend air only for urgent documents, samples and small parts, and road for everything else. For urgent cargo from farther cities such as Riyadh and Jeddah, we can fly it to Dammam and then truck it through Khafji. More in air freight from Saudi Arabia to Kuwait.
Is there sea freight from Dammam to Kuwait?
Commercial containers can be routed from King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam to Shuwaikh or Shuaiba as a sea option on request, but it does not suit furniture, cars or small loads, because the road is faster and simpler. Most of our Eastern Province customers simply use the truck.
What happens at the Khafji and Nuwaiseeb crossings?
The Khafji port of entry lies in Khafji Governorate, about 16 km from the town, and is run by the Border Guard together with the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA). Before a truck reaches the land port, ZATCA requires the carrier to book a crossing appointment on the Fasah platform and to turn up within roughly three hours of that slot. So Gulf International Shipping books the slot and files the cargo details on Fasah before the truck pulls out of Dammam, and it never joins the queue of trucks without a booking.
After leaving the Saudi side, the truck covers about 3.5 km to Nuwaiseeb, where documents go to Kuwaiti customs and the load may be opened for inspection. Wrapped, numbered furniture with a clear inventory is checked faster than loose items with no list. Waits grow on Thursday and Friday evenings, in holiday periods and on dusty days, while weekday mornings are calmer.
Documents needed to ship from Dammam to Kuwait
What can’t be shipped to Kuwait?
Kuwaiti customs turn away alcohol and anything used to make it, pork in any form, drugs, indecent publications, gaming and gambling machines, second-hand medical equipment, cars over ten years from manufacture, walkie-talkies and other radio transmitters, weapons and ammunition even when antique, and goods connected with Israel. Some goods are restricted and need prior approval, such as medicines and pets. We do not carry e-cigarettes commercially or lithium batteries inside furniture loads. If you are unsure about an item, send us a photo before loading and we will check.
Delivery across Kuwait
Dammam cargo enters Kuwait from the south, so Al-Ahmadi Governorate is the first stop before the truck heads north to the others. We deliver to the door of the home or warehouse and carry furniture up to high floors in residential towers after arranging access with building management.

Estimating what your Dammam shipment will cost
What moves the price: volume in cubic metres or weight, shared or dedicated truck, the level of packing, floors and lifts at both ends, the Kuwaiti area, and shipping during peak seasons. A rough example: a Khobar family sends a bedroom set from SAR 1,380 and ten small parcels from SAR 64 each, so the cost starts at about SAR 2,020. Adding a sedan on a single flatbed from SAR 1,100 brings the starting total to about SAR 3,120 before any special extras.
Cutting the cost of shipping from Dammam to Kuwait
- Choose shared trucking by the cubic metre if your load is under half a truck.
- Leave cheap, heavy items behind; moving them can cost close to what they are worth.
- Pack in cartons of the same size so the space is used well.
- Avoid holiday weeks and Thursday evenings, since long border waits raise the cost of a dedicated truck.
- Have the paperwork ready before loading so you do not pay for an extra day of waiting.
Common mistakes when shipping from the Eastern Province to Kuwait
- Sending without an inventory: inspection at Nuwaiseeb takes longer and delivery can slip by a day.
- Mixing new and used furniture: new items may pay 5% if not GCC-made, so list them separately.
- Packing belongings inside a shipped car: usually not allowed, and it holds up the car’s clearance.
- Forgetting to recover AC gas: it risks damage and breaks transport rules.
- Believing anyone who promises a crossing “without papers”: every truck passes through a Fasah slot and an official manifest.
